Not really to be honest. Rise of the Tomb Raider and The Last of US had different options for higher frame rate at 1080p and 30 fps at 4K. Just depends on if the developer wants to put those additional options into the game is all. For a mostly single player game like both of those games it makes more sense to have those options.

  • Yeh and do you see Bungie doing that ? Native 1080p, 60 frames per second should have been the benchmark for this generation. Even the Pro or Scorpio struggle to reach this. And then 4K gets added just to cripple this gen . I've played on 1080p and on 4K and on 40 inch screen many times. You can't tell the difference. So the gain of 4K in my opinion isn't worth the strain it puts on game performance .

They said the frame rate was at issue due to the CPU bottlenecking over 30 fps due to the environments and amount of enemies and allies they have on the playspace not the GPU outputting the 4K imagery. Also D1 was at 30 and played great so I dont have any issue with it. Yes I am curious how its plays at a higher frame rate on PC but still have it preordered on Xbox and PC and PS4 to try each beta individually to an extent.

They mentioned that when discussing 4K performance on the Pro. And on a Normal console. They have completely sidestepped answering if it would be possible on Pro at 1080p. Read it again , the topic is completely avoided.

  • Again though like I said above, the latest tomb raider and the ps4 version of the last of us had updates to include different options for higher frame rate at 1080 or 4K locked at 30. Just depends if Bungie wants to implement that into the game. I mean the PC version will be running unlocked frame rate so many people will have different frame rates playing the game. I just dont know if Bungie wants to bring that to the consoles in the amount of time that they have available.

  • Which leads back to why 4K and the hype train around it has limited this gens potential. If 4K hadn't become such a overrated priority, developers would be working hard to get the most out of 1080p. 4K should have been the target for next generation. These consoles don't enough power.

  • I understand where your coming from but thats not what Sony had in mind and with multiple games being able to showcase that 4K HDR resolution on games like Horizon and the other games I mentioned above, its just how the market is gearing towards. They are throwing it in there for those consumers (like myself) who have a 4K tv or monitor and want to experience higher fiedelity games. Im itching to see how Destiny 2 looks in 4K on my Samsung TV.

Agree it's not what Sony or Microssoft have in mind now. And that's the problem. And btw, unless you projecting into a large wall, you won't notice much difference in 4K.
