D2: Hunter Subclass - Arcstrider Discussion

Hey everybody! Cyber here! Now we are all aware we are in the preliminary stages of receiving Destiny 2 information especially involving the new Hunter subclass, Arcstrider, but I'd like to share a few ideas and have a discussion with you all. Based on what we know so far The Arcstrider subclass replaces Bladedancer as the Arc Subclass for Hunters. It seems once again it will be focused as a close-quarters subclass. Nothing wrong with this, it seems to be a highly acrobatic and fun Super to use but here's my concern. While Titans gain the good ol' Captain America Shield and Warlocks gain a sword that empowers them to become a Phoenix and rain fire down upon their enemies. The Hunter receives this staff that's extremely limited to range. The new Titan and Warlock supers have both long and close range capabilities while (as far as we know) the new Hunter super is strictly close range. Yes you can flip and move quickly but I don't think it'll be as fast as the Cap Shield or the flames of hell itself. I'm concerned about this my fellow guardians and with concern comes thought, which produces ideas. Here's my take on it. Hopefully this new Hunter subclass will allow us to simply throw the staff towards our enemies in an arc fueled attack. Making it more spear-like in a way. Or possibly throw a lighting bolt like the almighty Zeus himself (may be reaching here lol). I'm just worried about the range capabilities of this new subclass. Yes, Hunters do have golden gun which is strictly a ranged super. But for the sake of this discussion let's focus on this new subclass as I'm curious to know what you all think and what your ideas are. Let's Discuss!

  • I must be in a minor group, however I actually enjoy playing as Bladedancer myself. This is my build for Hunter: +Mask of The Third Man +Showstopper +Encore +High Intellect +Any armor with "increased super energy gained from killing minions of the darkness" These builds are what kept the Bladedancer last longer and is very useful when clearing up almost entire monsters in a single room. So I am very curious to see what kind of "build/peak" the new Arcstrider will have. I'm with those people who say "Wait until you try it before you judge anything." So let's wait, guys. :) E3 is almost here. Keep in mind that Hunter do have long-range attack (Gunslinger). Suppose there's some new exotic that'll allow Hunter to have an extra GG or some kind of cool effect we have not seen in Destiny 2. Same goes for Arcstrider! Looking forward to try it in Beta and Destiny 2! Can't wait!

  • My plans: 1. Try it. 2. Decide how I feel about it. 3. Post my thoughts.

    • The only problem I have with Arcstrider is that bungie gave hunters a stick. Warlocks get a sword, titans get a captain America shield, and hunters get a measly stick. How dare they

      • In some of the trailers I did see the arcstrider release a wave of arc energy to eliminate multiple foes. While it does have a limited range it could help. For now let's all wait to see what would happen.

        • It is still early, so hopefully some changes can be made between now and release.

          • Just think of it like this. Dont use you super when you get it. Wait out their 4 supers. Use yours, Wreck the entire enemy team. No need to make it super vs super. If you want that use GG. Because it oneshots even a gaurding captain america.

            • I'm also concerned, but seeing as we've had zero information on it so far there's not much to discuss, sadly.

              • I'll save my judgements until I see a skill tree. Not that I have an issue with a close range only class, or are we all forgetting how powerful vanilla Bladedancer was.

                    • As long as it's not: 1. Activate super 2. Close eyes 3. Mash button 4. Killz! It will be an improvement over Cheese Blade

                      • This is just one subclass tho. Fists have to be close range too. the new sunsinger (idk name) doesn't seem to be designed for close quarters. Goldy is definitely a ranged super and we don't actually know if blade is only cqc
