ADS that slows you down. ADS that severly limits jumping while shooting. Movement mechanics like sprint that prohibit shooting.
While shooting you can't really do anything. You just kind of stand there. Possibly slowly shuffling side to side at a pace a turtle would scoff at.
I don't get it. Destiny is fun to play. It would be 1000x more fun if you could move quickly while shooting though. If you could jump and aim accurately at once.
I'm not expecting it to change. Destiny will always be an inferior game to halo (and quake, doom, TF, timesplitters, etc) gameplay wise. I'm just wondering why people praise it's gunplay so much when it is sooooo dull.
"Time to shoot! Better stop doing everything else!"

What lol do you want to do a -blam!-ing backflip when you're shooting? 😂

I love this game too but Destiny is a perfect game in the eyes of those whose only FPS-like experience is Destiny.

7 Repliesonly thing I hate is the slowdown when trying to turn while sprinting.

1 ReplyIt's not the gunplay that makes Destiny great. It's the mobility. And to be very honest it appears that they've gotten away from that with D2. I hope I'm wrong.

Edited by Smarkdow: 5/24/2017 10:02:00 PMOf the many things Destiny got wrong, gunplay isn't one of them. The act of shooting your weapon (in a first person shooter, no less) feels fine. Weapons feel like they have impact, and the audio design reinforces it. It's just too bad the game surrounding that gunplay is bland and uninspired.

so you're saying we should be the flash with a gun?

ADS that slows you down. ADS that severly limits jumping while shooting. Movement mechanics like sprint that prohibit shooting.
That's exactly why I like it. It feels realistic & immersive. Except for conspiracy theory-d. There's no reason for any gun to shoot that slowly.

1 ReplyI wonder have you ever tried running and shooting at the same time? Not in the game world, in the real one. I'm not one to say Destiny is the greatest gunplay ever, but it's pretty darn good.

4 RepliesSounds like you're looking for Black Ops 3.

1 ReplyEdited by NioBiuM xAELiTe: 5/24/2017 5:41:06 PMIt makes sense that ADS slows down movement speed, and that you can't sprint and shoot at the same time. Try any of these things with an actual weapon and you will see that it is not easy to multitask, even for well trained soldiers. Just about every fps I can think of does this. Halo, Call of Duty, Battlefield, they all have the mechanics you are complaining about.

4 RepliesThe gunplay is incredible. If you don't like the pacing, that's an issue with the overall design of the speed of the combat. And that's fine. Games like COD and Titanfall exist to give you a much faster paced experience. Just don't expect that from destiny. However, the pacing is not detrimental or poorly done. It's just personal preference.

Well. Gunplay used to be fun but Bungie decided that one SAVING GRACE of their game wasn't a priority. So they decided to nerf everything and make it an ability spam with gunplay taking a backseat

2 RepliesGuess it all comes down to personal preference. I personally like Destiny's gameplay because of the feel of the weapons, the looks and sounds of the weapons, the types of weapons, and ADS. It is just so unique how it works, it feels special.

21 RepliesSo you want halo where you never aim and just strafe? You are comparing apples to oranges neither share shooter mechanics with the other. Destiny is about precision damage and landing those crit shots. Aiming should slow you down in order to land those. Halo is about strafe shooting with your AR and getting a range weapon to land head shots. The guns look good in destiny and make good noises along with the controls feeling intuitive. Thats why the gunplay is good.

What? You're describing things that would likely take away from gameplay. -
5 RepliesIt was praised 3 years ago. If it's just the same engine, same slow-paced action, etc... It won't be getting as high of marks this time around because technology has improved, and Destiny seemingly hasn't.
