Why is the end of grimoire bad?
I'm seeing a lot of people say that if the story is in the game then why worry about the end of grimoire. The problem is there is so much more depth within the grimoire that could never be in game.
There are literally hundreds of pages of story in the grimoire; how could Bungie ever tell the story of Thorn and The Last Word fully in game? Or how about the Books of Sorrow?
There is a strong community around the deep story of Destiny, and Bungie has decided to give everyone 10% more in game, but take away 90% from the actual story. Addition in game? Yes. Subtraction overall? Yes. A good thing? Not in the slightest. Bungie, I want to love D2, but this decision has the potential to make me leave the game, and I'm not the only one who feels that way.

32 RepliesClassic. The bottom line is that the vast majority of the people who play this game DON"T READ THEM. In fact, Bungie got HAMMERED for the use of the Grimoire. In fact the whole "Destiny has no story" argument is BASED on the fact that people don't read them. So now Bungie shows us that they're listening to the community.....moves the game's lore INTO the game....and people STILL complain. Unbelievable. Bungie isn't going to spend limited human resources in DUPLICATING systems. Especially one that most people never even used in the first game.

I not so much into the lore as I am in completing more achievements. I mean that's half the reason I did some of the cards. Yeah, like I gonna do 100 wins of Rumble in another Last Word era. Not.

Well, if you were to pick the one thing gamers complained about the most when it came to vanilla Destiny, imo, it would be the story. If the story hadn't been locked away, out of game, don't you suppose Destiny would have rated higher than an average 6/10 on most review sites. And that avg 6/10 actually cost Bungie bonus money. So if the entire gaming community complains about the lack of in game lore, are Bungie wrong to address that complaint? And in addressing that complaint, is it fair to sacrifice / reduce the salaries of the writers of Destiny lore, or should the writers just volunteer the time and energy it takes to right the Book of Sorrows? The greatness of the grimoire lore of Destiny was only born out of the hard work of My name is Byf, and other content creators. They spent the time bringing it to the masses and doing their best to explain it to people, who sadly were just too lazy to read it for themselves. And to be clear, it's common knowledge today, that the original, in game, Destiny story got cut up and mangled when the main writer left, due to the top brass at Activision not liking it. If it hadn't happened the way it did, and more lore/ coherent story was, "in game," the exploration of the grimoire would have been less, imo.

I could careless about grimoire, it was intended to tell the rich history of destiny and it turned into a dick measuring contest on these forums. Low grimoire apparently is a direct correlation to your skill as a player and has nothing to do with mindlessly finding dead ghost and the like, or just playing rumble for no other reason than to get your grimoire score up. Im all for a better in game story as long as it is seamlessly integrated into the game. Not a damn iBook or something like that. Knowing bungie, it will be a book through the director that you can read...cant wait.......

Yeah, I don't get this doomsaying. Why are people so convinced that moving the Lore into the game means that it is utterly impossible to have substantial lore? Elder Scrolls Online has HUNDREDS of Lore Books of all kinds. In game. Readable. In a big ass collection that you can go and read at your leisure.

Would you watch those movies?

Grimoire was Destiny's story, even though I never got around to reading all of it. I wanted a game that had a story as powerful as the grimoire. I'm starting to second guessing Destiny 2 again

Something is needed. The card are good because you can read them from the app when you need to kill some time. Other games have hidden books and notepads in game. I don't think it's possible for them to full explain the game world in cut scenes without this becoming a movie instead of a game.

Complainer: Too bad that Destiny's story is 90% locked to grimoire. It would be nice to have more story in the game. Bungie: Lets nerf grimoire completely out of the game. Complainer: Thats not what i ment. Bungie: Too late... ------ Complainer: Weapon xy is a bit too strong. Maybe some tuning could make the weapon more balanced. Bungie: Lets nerf the weapon to the ground! And while we are at it, lets nerf some more weapons, abilities, items nobody is complaining about. Hell, lets nerf even fusions and some exotics no one is using. Just for fun. The Bungie way. Im not surprised.

16 RepliesI don't mind if the entire story isn't shoved right in my face in the story missions I enjoy reading about lore just put that lore in the game so I can read it rather than making us go to a website to learn more that's my problem. Give me a kiosk/library in the tower where I can read it.

2 RepliesI think a logical step would be to Tie all the grimoire to collectible items that we can view in game. Even items that cant be collected into our inventory, id like to see the ability to scan objects or find small hidden things and instead of it being a card online id rather it be in our collection where we can go to our character and view all our collected stuff and read up on the lore of each item.

2 RepliesI think the concern here is whether or not there will still be a form of grimoire or "codex" that we can read in game. I don't think there was anyone that disliked the grimoire, the thing people disliked about it was that it wasn't available to view in game. So the question is, have they removed that system completely, or are they adding a similar system to be accessible in game. Because the grimoire details more than just the story of Destiny but also it's history.

honestly i always felt that grimoire was so fragmented that it made it hard to put together the story. it didnt read like a story at all and gave me a headache to read it

8 RepliesGrimoire took the story and expanded it to let people know what the back story of everything was. It also was the only true way at finding who was actually experienced.

I don't get why people are like "bungie don't care about x part of community" because they do, chances are they will have cards for destiny one stuff and they have added lore stuff to each item, the lore tubers will find stuff to make videos on, the mysteries and thoughts about who a person could be or new lore or why a lost sector boss ended up where it is. still i wish the lore youtubers would stop complaining about how theres no advanced lore when there will be.

Bungie listened, and took them away and is now presumably going to put that info in game, now people are complaining that they are being taken away?!?! What..... Thee.... Fůćk?!?!?! Wow.
