It's kinda Sony hurt themselves (even Microsoft with Scorpio if it turns out to be the same) with this incremental console release i.e. PS4 Pro. If they are going to be limited by the Vanilla PS4 then what's the point of the "Pro" moniker. No! 4K users are a minority and the Pro can't do it natively anyways. So if someone looking at getting Destiny what's the point of getting it on PS4 Pro?

  • Native 4k was confirmed for destiny 2 on PS pro. Also the division runs native 4k along with some other titles on the pro.

Hahaha The PS4 Pro does not do native 4K. Sorry for you who got it expecting that was the case. It uses fancy tricks to upscale to 4K but it's absolutely not native.

  • Some games do native 4k... Do your research before throwing that "hahahaha" around. This is coming from someone that primarily games on Xbox.

  • Meh makes no difference. Until everyone has a 4K tv it's a waste. A lot of people will enjoy lag in 4k by the looks of it. Good thing my vanilla ps4 is still relevant so I guess I should not be complaining hat Sony is catering to me.

  • Actually it has been confirmed to do native 4k on destiny 2 not dynamic. And also does native on the division and Skyrim. There are some titles that it does native on just not most of them.

  • 1. Sony is beating Microsoft's head in with sales of the PS4 and the PS4 pro. 2. The incremental change for the PS4 pro was necessary to support the release of Sony's VR headset. VR strains the orginal PS4, but runs smoothly on PS4 Pro. 3. The only people who are gaming in Native 4K at this point are high-end PC users. While it appears that Scorpio will hit that benchmark, MS has NOT announced a price for it yet. So its still up in the air was to whether or not it will represent a good value versus simply buying a gaming PC 4. I have a PS4 Pro, and I will be buying Destiny for it. Why? Simple. a. I don't care about 60 fps. In fact I find looking at 60 fps animation irritating. b. I own a 4k TV, and 99% of things you watch on it are upscaled. There is very little native 4K content out there yet. "Full HD" (1080p) was in a similar situation about 10 years ago. c. I've played Horizon Zero Dawn in the 30 fps @ (upscaled) 4K that Bungie is claiming to be able to hit with Destiny 2 on PS4 PRO.....and the effect was absolutely breathtaking. d. I'm a couch gamer, and dont' want to deal with the hassle (anymore) of gaming on a PC. The marginal benefits of PC gaming at this point aren't worth it to me. 5. Sony gets to sit back and watch MS take the risks with Scorpio. If its a success.....they'll release their own comparable product. If its a flop.....MS takes the hit...and Sony moves on.

  • Yeah, HZD is a very nice game and does not turn my vanilla PS4 onto a heater/jet. 4K is still like representing like 10% of total players even less. I personally rather have 1080p @ 60fps for PVP. PVE could not care much. I was trying to say that PS4 Pro may appeal to new buyers but even then not so much if they do not own a 4K TV. I mean it's not even Native 4K so rather get a much cheaper Slim PS4.

  • PS4 pro can still supersample 1080p games and provide better graphics than original PS4. It's just the best machine out there right now, and MS still hasn't announced a price for Scorpio. Like I've said on other threads. For pve, I'm not prepared to give up 4K to get 60 frames. I think the issue is that many people just haven't seen what 4K looks like versus 1080p. The difference is even more noticeable than going from 720 to 1080.

I just don't want to suffer the experience of frame drops and jitters. They sucked in the 80s, sucked in the 90s, and suck now. It's outright annoying during Siege Engine, it was vastly irksome during Oryx on PS3, and I don't want that for D2. Give me a stable environment over a "smoother" turning effect (60 fps) any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

  • Agreed. I'd much rather have a stable frame rate--whatever it is---than a stuttering mess. Because a game is pushing for a frame rate it can't maintain.

  • Maybe for you personally. 4K is still a long way away for the vast majority of players. Even on PC you gotta have a mighty rig to get 4k @ 60fps. Remember that PS4 Pro is not Native 4K. Let's be honest the PS4 Pro is more than able to do 60fps but very likely rigged by Sony to maintain parity. They are going to fragment the consoles even more without realizing it.
