Luke and the other dude already said in a interview with IGN that consoles couldn't handle THEIR GAME ( destiny 2 ) @ 60FPS. Specifically the PlayStation 4 PRO. The Scorpio they didn't say about. And PC is uncapped. They said that there is just too much going on in the background in order to implement 60 Fps. Especially with this game being so massive. I'd take a better and more lengthy story, longer strikes, challenging enemies and just more of everything over a higher frame rate. They also said that there's no dedicated servers BUT they changed the priorities around based on the users connection. Of course this doesn't fix the lag switchers etc. The game looks gorgeous, the weapons look amazing, the new suspers looks fantastic and fun the story looks really interesting. And people are crying about Frame rates. We finally all get what we are asking for but people still find shite to complain about. If you want higher frame rates then go play another game. No one is forcing you to play destiny.

  • While I don't care if it is 30 or 60 fps, that excuse is a load of crap. Horizon Zero Dawn plays awesome at 60fps on the PS4 Pro and it is massive and detailed. Final Fantasy 15 released a major update after PS4 Pro came out to bring it up to 60fps for Pro users.

  • They're crying about framerates because so many of the Destiny streamers (most of whom are PVPers) made such a big deal about it. But I'm not interested in a dumbed-down PVE experience simply to have a game that runs at 60 FPS. In fact, I'd rather have 30 fps at 4k than 60 at 1080p.

They were referring to 60fps at 4k At 1080p it would handle it a doddle But they chose not to do that either as the legacy PS4 could not so the pro players would have an advantage

  • No, the PS4 Pro can't handle 60fps at 1080p. The GPU is plenty capable of rendering 4k without a problem. The CPU is holding back the system regardless of what it's being rendered at. It could be 720p and still wouldn't run at 60fps because there's too many calculations that need to be made by the CPU. The resolution doesn't change the number of calculations the CPU has to do for things like AI and particle effects (these were cited by Bungie because they are MASSIVE strains on a CPU). So if you want 60fps on consoles, you have to be prepared to cut out AI and make the game a lot less flashy and more dull. If you genuinely think that 60fps is more important than delivering a complete (hopefully...) experience to ALL users, you are part of the huge problem that's plaguing the gaming industry.

  • There is a load of games out there at 60fps already at 1080p lol

  • Um. Okay? I don't think Destiny 2 is any of those games so that doesn't really matter in the slightest. Thanks though?

  • And your point being? The argument was that the PS4 pro can't handle 60 at 1080 p and it can and more on games with much more detailed environments

  • Cool, environment detail again. Let me know when that changes the number of calculations the CPU is doing for AI and particle effects. Two things not every game has ass loads of all at once, and are completely independent of the detail of the environment. Or when you realize that entire environments like Horizon aren't being rendered constantly, or that they aren't as detailed as you think they are. Or when you realize that a GPU and CPU compute different things, and the GPU would be what is primarily responsible for rendering the actual objects and textures and resolution of a game, whereas the CPU will handle things like the damn AI and particle effects. Seriously, when any of those things click, let me know.

  • Destiny is not a unique game more than any other shooter Others handle 60 fine and look much better than destiny We have been sold short yet again

  • Actually, I find that rather ironic. With the perks going to the PS4, that this would be the system that limits the game.

  • The PS4 Pro tests are not a "limiting factor", they are a maximum performance benchmark meant to see how well the game can run on the current most powerful system (excluding PC). If it can't run 60 fps at 1080p on the most powerful thing, then there's not a damn chance it'll run any better on the less powerful machines.
