So let's clarify. As per this tweet put out by Blizzard, they/battlenet literally have nothing to do with the game aside from allowing purchase of/launching it and some social features. Bungie's servers still host the game, Bungie is still in charge of handling issues/cheating reports.
So no, the banhammer is not going to "come down swiftly on cheaters because Blizzard takes cheating very seriously". That is still left entirely in Bungie's hands and whether or not they've upped their ability to handle legitimate cheating any better than they do currently.
So please stop spewing the "but batttlenet.." mantra, because it literally means nothing. PC gamers are still going to have to depend on good old Bungie like the rest of us console plebs.

11 RepliesEdited by TechnoKat: 5/20/2017 3:24:15 AMI adore how quickly Blizzard wiped their hands clean of the inevitable shitstain that we'll all call Destiny 2. "Hey guys, listen. We're not dumb. Destiny is a mess, so let's be /very/ clear here. We're only hosting this mess because it means we get commissions off of every purchase that you lot will make, but we're not responsible for any part of this trainwreck just so you know."

4 RepliesOP I agree with you, but I still have to get this off my chest. I'm tired of -blam!-ing morons that don't know anything about the PC sitting here and saying "PC HAX LOLOLOL PC SUCKS. EVERYONE ON PC IS A HACKER OBVIOUSLY LOLOLOL 30 FPS IS BETTER!"
-
4 RepliesEdited by Nargacugal: 5/22/2017 4:48:14 PMIf you're assuming blizzard is going to let hackers get away with it on a game they're hosting on their own, propiertary platform, a game that their partner, like, full on merged business partner, activision, has a huge stake in... Well I just don't see that happening. It's in everyone's best interest here for them to work together to stop hackers from affecting the experience. It has a real financial bottom line impact for everyone involved.
-
3 RepliesYea, and that in itself is a negative for the game on PC, one of many. Bungie doesn't have experience with hackers yet, or if so, don't have much experience. Hackers are on of the reasons The Division's player base dropped on PC, because massive/Ubisoft didn't know how to deal with them.
-
15 RepliesI hope blizzard stop making us play heroes of the storm for decent skins so we can play destiny instead
-
If players have figured out how to cheat through a console I have no confidence they'll be able to stop PC gamers. I don't care which company is at the helm so long as security is being addressed.
-
12 RepliesAnd the same way you say stop spewing but battlenet I'd counter argue with stop spamming that every PC player is a hacker. Such a massive overreaction.

1 ReplyEdited by Crota bin Oryx: 5/21/2017 5:41:42 PMSo does this means that Bungie is the judge and Blizzard is the executioner?
we are screwed!
-
5 RepliesBungie administers the game. But Battlenet is the gatekeeper. So once Bungie (eventually) decides to ban someone, Blizzard has the power to make it permanent. Because they can arrange it so that your hardware never has the ability to boot up the game again.
-
If pc gamers have to rely on bungle, RIP
-
Let me simplify. Battlenet is the blizzard version of steam.
-
1 ReplyI guess people don't remember the old days on Xbox. Bungie and MS used to pass out bans like candy on Halloween in Halo 2. Bungie don't play...
-
3 RepliesThanks for the cold hard truth. I was hoping that Blizzard would be more active in the management of D2 multiplayer, but I suppose it was too much to hope for. but then there's overwatch, which I've been wanting to buy anyway....
-
2 RepliesBut they can ban from Battlenet right? Like being banned from Sony.
-
3 RepliesHah, lol enjoy your 60fps hax.
-
1 ReplyIf cheaters ban depends on Bungie, then its going to be a hacking exploiting fest lmao. And they will probably invite the cheaters to their next reveal to honor them as awesome players.
-
3 RepliesWhenever I feel blue, I re-watch CNN's election night coverage
-
2 RepliesBungie even admitted they don't have a security solution set for D2 PC lol. These Blizzard fans are delusional.

4 RepliesNot trying to be an ahole in this question , but i don`t really care about PC players because they don`t play on the same server we console players do. But i`m sure sure that every cheat/hack/exploit they`ll do will afect us for sure. Because if there is a problem with something in the PC version of the game, we will all suffer from that. This i care. For the rest, I would love to have XboX and PS comunities on the same server , playing together since the game runs the same on both platforms. It will never happen i know, but it would be very cool in my humble opinion.

Get ready to use aimbots to stay competative !!!

For halo ce they used punkbuster Fyi
-
I assumed that was going to be great news for the PC version. RiP Destiny PC. So many hax.
-
5 RepliesThank you. Blizzard has zero tolerance for cheating. Bungo, on the other hand....
but what was on the one hand?? We'll never know
-
hax
Yes. Protect the game from malicious hackers, but I all want to see through hacks are NPC battles!
