Halo: Reach is the definitive Halo game wait a second...
wasn't that supposed to be Halo 3? Well in my opinion Halo 3 was the worst Halo game. So I think that Halo: Reach is everything Halo 3 was supposed to be. Halo: Reach changes the game play this time with bloom and AA. Halo: Reach has loads of new weapons and some new vehicles. Halo: Reach has a customizable firefight mode. Also I presume forge and theater will be much better in Reach. What did Halo 3 do to change the game play? Wait for it they added...equipment :/ So I think that in a way Halo: Reach is making up for Halo 3. Thats just my opinion though so you don't need to agree with me. Thoughts?

IMO All of the Halo games are great but Halo 3 has nothing on Halo 2 or Halo CE.

Halo 3 was not even close to halo 2 when it comes to multi player. The maps aren't even close. The weapon set isn't very good. Heck, the playlist weren't as good. Halo 3 sold so well on the backs of Halo CE and Halo 2. This doesn't mean it is a bad game. it's a good game but if you could take the netcoding and put it into Halo 2 it would have been far, far better. I still think Halo C.E. had the best campaign of all of the games so far. Except for the Library level it was all fun. AOTCR may be the best level in all of video games ever. This is all just my opinion.

Halo 3 had a weapon sandbox that was useful power weapons, the BR, the Carbine, and the AR. Everything else was ignored. The weapon balance alone makes Reach a better game, and it's not even released yet.

However the core game play was roughly the same as Halo 2. The only difference was equipment and support weapons.

Halo 3 was bloated and boring. Halo 2 produced the best games due to its simplicity and superior maps.

Halo 3 added a -blam!- load! Forge, extensive armor customization, better balanced elites, brought back assault rifle, had a whole bunch of new and improved weapons, brutes didn't suck quite as bad at fighting, and equipment like you said.

Halo Combat Evolved established the franchise, it was awesome, but it was limited with it's technology, no online play, etc. Halo 2 was for mainly online multi-player. It's story wasn't so great. It felt rushed, and it's campaign in no way was better than Halo 1's. Halo 3 was overall an amazing game excluding campaign. All the new features like theater and forge. Those things made the game great, and multi-player was great too. But the story had to be tied up, all the loose strings and stuff kept the campaign in a box. Halo 3: ODST was an expansion, nothing really good here, just firefight. Halo: Reach, has an entire new story which means there really are no strings, anything can happen, and it will be amazing. Multi-player is shaping up to be really good. New gametypes and everything. Customizable firefight, a new Forge, theater is back along with whatever else Bungie has up their sleeves. Definitive Halo title will obviously be Halo: Reach.

Ehh, Halo 2 was my least favourite but that's cause I didn't have Live at the time. I just didn't really enjoy the campaign or the story. Anyway, Reach looks like it's gonna be awesome.
