Camping in mayhem clash? Seriously?
I've played a few IB matches where half of the enemy team is just camping with icebreakers at the back of the map. They're so worried about their precious kd they're too scared to venture very far from their spawn point. It's sad yet funny.
Edit: ok I was making an observation and being snarky about it. But I think it's amusing that out of the few posts I have made this one seems to be gaining the most traction.

3 RepliesI find these players annoying and if they stay in the same spot I usually keep charging them I don't care for my K/D and I will always charge or try to snipe them no matter the cost and I will wait at the same snipe spot. If a teammate or two are aware of this I am glad when they decide to join in and I keep track of the specials, if they are all gone on respawn I will look for that same fcker and take them out. I hate snipers with a passion and I always have, I will stop at nothing to get to them. There were instances where I would jump and slide through a whole team just to stick them or as long as I get a hit in just to let them know, I'm coming for you.

It depends on the map. You're guaranteed to see snipers on places like Pantheon or Black Shield. I was just surprised, and glad, that everyone was trying to actually rush the middle corridor or flank the sides in Blind Watch. The only time I actually got sniped was because of someone trying to cover the indoor lane on the side with the heavy ammo crate in the building.

I guess it comes down to your definition of camping. I always view camping as shot gun crouching in a corner or finding a perch and hard scoping using a sniper. Others sometimes label what I consider, holding down an area as camping. This past IB, whenever Crossroads was the map, I just roamed back and forth from A to C. Constantly moving, but not actively seeking enemies out. And it was a blast. I love when you can wipe out a team individually enough times, that they all converge on you, even if they aren't grouped together or necessarily using in game chat. Got a few 25 to 30 kill matches with the best being 26 with 19 kill streak and a 13.0 k/d. A blast I tell ya!

Although I have had a surprising amount of success taking out snipers with my vision of confluence, especially with people sitting on top of the water tank in rusted lands sniping people in the direction of "point c" when the map is control

I'm a camper...but I don't use snipers in pvp at all. If I load into a game and the other team is obviously going kamikaze, I'll camp. For some people Mayhem Clash is all about the repetitive super ability. For me, it's about throwing grenades across the map every time they're charged, staying invisible the entire time, and using my super defensively to shut down the offense. I don't think there is any real advantage to camping. I die just as often either way. We all know campers get hunted.

I understand where you're coming from, and the whole process of having to deal with this kind of game play, is only furthered and enhanced by skill-based matchmaking. I was excited about something different for the Iron Banner, and Mayhem sounded fun! The first night that I jumped on, it was crazy and people were jumping around all over the place, firing off supers! In essence, it was a fast-paced thrill ride. Two night's later I played, and every -blam!-ing match might as well been trials, the way everyone was camping and waiting for the supers before attacking. I couldn't believe what I was experiencing... Here we have this mode, that is literally designed to be a casual good time, and this community will stop at nothing to destroy it. I'm so glad that Destiny 2 is on his way, because there's no way I'm going to be able to take the shit for much longer.

Honestly, I hang back quite a bit in mayhem so I don't end up in choke points with a bunch of teammates getting supered. Wait for the enemy team to use supers and charge in, snipe the out of supers, then charge the opposite spawn and use my super as they come out. I don't just camp the whole game but getting in a strategic spot and getting a few kills per life instead of sprinting in and getting shot before you even see anyone seems wise.

1 ReplyWell "camping" is more of a hated term used by gamers. Its actually called pulling security over a certain sector and maintaing a defensive posture. Actually works wonders to people who keep running in oblivious to it. If he/she was a defender it's totally justifiable lol.

1 ReplyEdited by michael: 5/16/2017 2:05:53 AMwhy does it matter? some people enjoy it. plus its mayhem. i once played a game against a guy camping in the furthest back spot of widows court with an ice breaker and asked him after the match out of curiosity if he found camping fun. he responded saying it was fun laughing at people who kept challenging the same lanes over and over to try and take him out and he would just snipe them first. totally fair answer to a fair question. i don't find camping fun but some people do, and last time i checked having fun is paramount in video games and if your definition of fun happens to also be effective in game (camping) then its a win win.
