I was wondering how do guardians change subclass is like will power or something else. And has a guardian ever switched sub class mid battle. I'm talking lore wise not game play

Probably just a refocus on what kind of light to manipulate. Maybe something like a moment of meditation or simply focusing on drawing on arc, solar, or void energy.

Interesting question. I believe its based off what a guardian has learned. As stated. Its not a bad arse scenw of shooting enemies woth golden gun. Blinking and shooting a tether. But because of the way each light has its forms i imagine it is possible. Most guardians probably have their one preference. But the ability to refocus on a new fundemental force is possible and probably done quite often. Not a switch we witness/abuse during the middle of a raid or mission. But one in lore that would take an hour or two for the guardian to refocus. Now that youve brought it up tho. Im starting to think of a legend. A fan fiction

2 RepliesConsidering that in Taken King you go on missions to gain a new subclass, it has to be possible. As for how it's done, maybe something you're Ghost can do? I don't think they can change mid-battle as in "Jumps up and uses Nightstalker bow, lands and does a Blink Strike, then throws a solar grenade".

They take off the solar panels and put a giant metal pole on there backs.

I believe it mirrors in game mechanics dear, to switch your subclass you need to take a moment to search for the new strand of light. That's why your cooldowns restart because you are filling up with different light after expelling the old. Some guardians may not be able to grasp some light styles so don't bother.

1 ReplyMost guardians probably just prefer a subclass. Everyone has a preference. But there are story's of guardians learning other abilities and using them. Like felwinter was a void walker but used shoulder charge.
-
Well as far as I know no one has switched subclasses ever, Yor did not switch sub class he merely stopped using the light so he wasn't any class. The closest thing to someone changing in lore is when felwinter used shoulder charge to hit a warlord but he didn't switch he just said he learned it from lady jolder. So I'm guessing lore wise guardians can learn things from different classes but it probably takes a lot of training.

2 RepliesI think lore-wise most guardians are just one subclass, but for those that have more than one, I presume it's just that they know how to make more than one element with their Light. If you studied Solar Light and become a Sunsinger, then study Void Light and become a Voidwalker, you just know how to do both now, there's no in-universe reason why you couldn't throw a Firebolt and follow-up with a Nova Bomb without a hard switch in between. It'd be like doing a karate move then a judo move.

They don't. I'm pretty sure we can just do what ever when ever as long as we have the required energy. Void, arc, solar.
-
Tevis tells us explicitly what is needed to become a Nightstalker. A complete and utter lack of fear. A willingness to weaponize the Void without having to fully understand it like the floofer librarians.
-
And don't forget all humans and exo non-guardians (like people in the city) have a small amount of the travelers light keeping them healthy and strong. Live longer

1 ReplyLore wise, guardians aren't locked into any one subclass at a time. They're more like fields of study that teach special abilities to be used at any time.

Light uh uh... Finds a way
