Stop lying in LFG
If you haven't done the raid, don't say you have when we ask you. If you haven't- if we're looking to teach we will teach you how to do it.
If you don't know the challenge, don't say you've done it before/know how it goes. Admit that you haven't done it- or tell us if all you've done is seen Voutube Videos of it. Regardless we will teach you how to do it if everyone has the patience to help.
Why do people keep lying on LFG? We ran a raid group last night- two actually... the second one we finished, first was... interesting.
Joined on a guy who we found on LFG wanting to do a fresh run of VoG, we asked him "Do you know how to do challenge modes?" He said yes, he's done it all before and finished. Okay cool... we had three of us join so four total. He grabs two more off LFG and we load in- only it turns out it's not a fresh run like he told us... it was an Atheon Check Point.
"I thought we were doing a fresh run?"
"Nah we'll just do Atheon and then start over."
"But... three of us don't have Knuckles... and we were told it would be fresh. Alright whatever lets get it over with."
So, six wipes in we have problems. Our raid leader who lied to us kept dying to Supplicants cause he'd stay on the ground and try to melee them (I'm normally the last one in, so whenever he was outside with me I saw him face tank a Supplicant every time trying to kill it with a shotgun or melee.), the two randoms he grabbed didn't know how to do the challenge- our raid leader didn't know how to do it... cause all three of them would shoot more than one Oracle every time or not come through the portal when asked. "Okay does anyone here not know how to do the challenge? If so lets figure this out so we can teach if we have too." Me and our other clan member said we knew... but dead silence from the other three.
"So... I take it that's a no. Alright we can teach you and we can power through it." And then the raid leader DC's and doesn't come back. Alright...
"So I don't know about you, but we were lied to about a fresh run. So we're gonna do a fresh run, if you wanna join us feel free."
"Nah man I only had enough time to do Atheon, I gotta bounce." And both the two randoms leave too. We still got it done in the end with a new team...
But still, why do you have to lie to get into an LFG?

Ever go into a raid knowing you're an awesome player, knowing all the mechanics, rarely dying, but yet still it takes you longer than it should to complete the raid because of players who die alot and don't know the mechanics? Well i want to invite everyone to a group chat i have going on. What you will need to do is download the app called "groupme" and then send me a private message either here or on my PSN: HuSeYiN_NYC with the email you used to sign in to groupme so i can add you to the group chat. You don't need to join my clan if you dont want to. The reason why i want to find good raiders is because I'm tired of trying to beat a raid boss over n over n over again because people keep messing up. Also another reason for me doing this is to stay in touch with those good players for when Destiny 2 comes out, our friends lists will consist of nothing BUT good players. Thanks for reading. This is poinpoint accurate and doesn't rely on grimour (which doesn't add them up correctly). Spending 1-2 minutes checking if your team actually knows what they are doing will save you hours in a raid. It's fine to do carries. However what's impossible to do is carry someone and you don't realise they are a carry. This has caused me countless wipes over the years. Using this site is a godsend.

I stopped being a Sherpa in raids for this reason, started posting with requirements and kids think "oh cool, a raid full of experienced players should be able to carry me" and I still get people that have no idea how to even do the normal parts of the raids. I now, at the end of this games cycle, understand all those post that include the "no kids" requirement. Also, if you're wearing trials gear and running bladedancer or nova bombs like a selfish nob, you're getting kicked. Why are there so many liars trying to raid now? Serious question, would love an answer.

I just hate joining into groups that have no relic runner/sword runner. So out of the 6 people you invited to the group, considering you yourself don't know how to run it. Y not make sure you invite someone that does. I use to just do it just get it over with although many mic is muted the rest of the raid. But that was then now I just leave

Lfg gets made out to be this cesspool of liars and assholes. Frankly speaking it's not true. Just like anything in life you have good people and bad people. I have posted on lfg many many times for whatever reasons. I have found most of my friends on there in 3 years I've been playing this game. That's gotta say something good about lfg right? Yes there are liars and assholes on there, but there's good guardians too. Set yourself some expectations when joining a group. If I sense negativity and blame game because of multiple wipes and shit starts going south I bounce. Jump back on lfg and find a solid team. Remember too, if it looks like an asshole post there you go.

while elites are an issue, are they really the cause of the problem or could it be that players are tired of the lies and just want clear quantifiable evidence of completions like emblems and number of completions. Run a raid today with lfg, same guy seems to be having troubles, on everything from where to stand at war priest, how to take gaze at golgoroth, the jumping puzzle etc.. we ask him if he has done it.. his answer yup, I know what i'm doing.. ok we continue as we work through it I pull up his stats. 0 completions on KF. ZERO. And his death count seems to be pretty close to exactly what his death count is in this raid. I ask him if he has completed the raid, yup he says 3 times at least. I tell him that b.net app must be wrong then as it shows 0 clears. I have no issue in showing someone how to clear a raid and strategies to keep them alive but, if they are going to lie to me about their experience, I have no wish to continue carrying them. He left after I pointed out his 0 completions saying he had to get to work.. maybe I scared him off.. I wasn't even the leader so its not like I would have kicked him out, still.. DAMMIT JUST BE HONEST ABOUT YOUR RAID EXPERIENCE AND ABILITY. It shows painfully if you have no clue or can't stay alive.

11 RepliesIt's about cause and effect. Cause: Elitist dickholes requiring 10 different things to get into their group. Effect: People lie just so they can get into a group to play a raid. Not saying it's right on either side, but that's what it is.

If I find a liar god forbid you spend too much more time with me in a raid. I get real pissy real fast after spending hours on it and then have someone tell me they don't know what they're doing. I become an asshole and put them in their place. And then, raid groups usually never kick me for being an asshole because they know I'm the only one in the group that has "dared to use the relic"

I don't mind helping people if they admit they don't know what they are doing. But when they lie and it's clear I usually block them.

The worst is when you join a group saying they'll take in new players and they kick you because you're a new player.

My most recent moment was when we were a bit stuck on Atheon and our team was deciding what to do about our constant wipes. We found out that one guy was 372. [spoiler] [/spoiler]

I'm always honest about what I can do and what I can't. If I haven't done the challenges on a certain raid then I'm always upfront about it. I haven't done Challenge mode on Crota, Challenge mode on KF, Challenge mode or hard mode on WoTM . Never ran the Relic to VoG.

I think the best thing for new raiders to do is watch videos on the mechanics first as some youtubers are very good at explaining it. That's what I've done for every raid except wrath of the machine that was the only one I went into blind since I was actually off work when it launched. Then do the raid on a non challenge week to get the feel for it and some gear. This will help you tons when you are ready for challenge mode. Lastly start your own lfg group and let everyone know it's your first time or you're new to that raid. There are plenty of people willing to help you, if you start the group you won't have to look for them, they will come to you.
