Keep trials in. It's good fun and certainly tests your ability to communicate as a team.
The only thing that needs changing is the categories.
For example if Elo stays In
Category one 0-500 Elo
Category two 500-1000 Elo
Category three 1000-1500 Elo
Category four 1500 -2000
Category five 2000+
Once you been flawless you get put in the same band with other people who have been flawless.
It works off account not per character

it would take 10 minutes to find a match if you segment it this way
-
It would give more people (casuals and crybabies) a chance to reach the lighthouse. I don't mind spending a few extra minutes in orbit if it is going to match me against someone my skill level. Time and time again we come to 7-0 and we come up against people who are twice as good as us. Hitting every shot first time. Sometimes it happens in the first match and it puts us of playing.

No way! There are 1.9 million people playing Trials every weekend cuz that's the only thing worth playing in Destiny according to all the Trials fans, you'll get games in no time!
-
no, you break players into that many subsets, add the flawless criteria, and hopefully some sense of connection-based match making, it will take forever. not all 1.9 million players who play over the 4 days of trials are all matchmaking every single minute of the day
-
And 99.9% are the reason everything got nerfed.

I know, Trials needs to go!
