I think Trials would be good if there was a tier system. Something where you would play a certain number of matches with the general population with restrictions on weapons and armor, and it would put you in a tier based on your KD, assists, and wins. MMR could be used at a tier score. Also for an example, going into a game as a bronze tier player with two diamond tier players would put you into the diamond tier to make carries that much more of a challenge for those still willing to do them.
