Hardest Raid Challenge Mode
What do you think the hardest challenge mode is? It could either be one you personally think is hard, or one where LFG simply can't get their shit together.
Basically, which one causes you the most wipes and consumes the most time out of your day?
[spoiler]I took out Crota and Warpriest because the polls can only fit a maximum of 7 options. Although the Oryx challenge is easier than the non-challenge mode, I still put it in due to the fight's general mechanics.[/spoiler]
[b]What do I think the hardest one is?[/b]
[spoiler]Aksis by far. It's not hard for me at all, and I know exactly what to do and where to stand while empowered. For me, the Aksis challenge is effortless. The hard part is finding a team who actually knows how to think. So many times has somebody not slammed their plate. So many times has somebody not slammed into Aksis. So many times has somebody died to adds because their side wasn't killing them quick enough. It's ridiculous. Why so many people have such a hard time with this is completely beyond me.[/spoiler]

Bungie said atheon is the 'hardest challenge they have ever done'. It requires the inside team to do LESS than they would normally do. You kill one oracle. You GTFO. The outside team comes in once the first player comes out. It requires you to have the ability to read your own name. Easy peasy. The aksis challenge is super simple if you know your left and right. I don't know how people mess it up. I have been part of LFG teams that have gotten kings fall done three time back to back getting every single challenge done on the first attempt. Many of the challenge modes are actually the best way to kill the bosses. Aksis and oryx challenges are actually the best way to kill the bosses. I have also been in LFG teams that couldn't get past totems.

Definitely Aksis, not counting when Oryx is being a glitchy shit. (a couple weeks ago he survived all 16 bombs with half of his health remaining)

1 ReplyI vote Atheon since it can be difficult to explain the system to inexperienced players. For Aksis, I can just say that if he doesn't teleport to your side then go to your back plate.

2 RepliesI'm not sure if I could pick one, but it's definitely between Aksis and Templar. Aksis, because it requires the most coordination and awareness from everyone. Whereas challenges like Crota put a lot of emphasis on two or three key players, Aksis requires everyone to be on their toes to complete the challenge successfully. There's also no room for error. Miss a supercharge? That's a wipe. I remember taking around 5 hours to complete this challenge the first time round. Sure, it got easier as time went on (I actually ended up 5 manning it with the last group I played with), but it's definitely the one I had the most trouble with at the start. On the other hand, Templar is definitely the one I've had the most trouble with since AoT's release. It's pretty much the definition of a DPS race. Templar doesn't actually have that much health, but thanks to the sheer amount of ads unprepared teams will have a tough time taking him down. Add on the fact that missing one teleport block equals a wipe, and you end up with a pretty frustrating encounter. Definitely harder than the Atheon challenge.

I really want to know why people think aksis is so difficult. It makes no sense to me why people have problems. You stand on the plate, he teleports, if he teleport to your side you jump on him. I mean seriously, you have more than enough time of you can read the teleport, which is literally a giant red Siva swarm going towards the plate. I personally never take more than 4 or 5 tries to get it down with randoms, where are these people who need help? I would even say vosik is harder due to the bull shit lag fest that occurs half the time.

1 ReplyEven though i feel they are all pretty simple, I selected aksis cause from my experience, i believe majority of the failed attempts were due to my teammates not being able to adjust quickly enough or not having a quick reaction. I mostly lfg raid groups #rip

1 ReplyMost players limit themselves to a few roles and responsibilities in each boss fight. They get comfortable doing one side/position and never learn anything else. So, when you get a bunch of lfg players together that collectively only know how to cover 4 positions you will get a painful boss fight or players leaving. Running sword/relic has been around for years now yet the majority of players dont know how to do either. "Must know" posts dominate the forums within hours after a new raid is released, thus beginning the cycle all over again.

Honestly, the 64% that voted aksis, i hope i never raid with you, that shit is soooo easy. If youre empowered get to your place, when he teleports be lookin at the teleport spot your side, if hes not there turn around and hit plate. Literally the simplest thing ever, have no idea what the struggle is. As a tip, it might help if you up your agility a bit, put on memory of jolder to avoid sprintlock, and if youre a warlock, focused burst for your jump. When you are empowered forget dps, until you are comfortable that everyone is in their correct place. Whenever i run aksis now, i find it best practice to always do challenge mode, even if the rest of my team arent, it makes it normal when challenge is actually on.
