It's damage is decent, with a C scaling in Dex, and a D in Str (after reinforcement), but it's nothing extraordinary, and every other slash does ever so slightly less damage, not to mention itty bitty range. However.. The Valorheart has an "autoblock" mechanic. If attacked in the middle of an attack animation, it will count as a block. If you have low stamina, that's bad, but with good stamina management, its a blessing, especially for enemies who can be staggered, like the final boss of Ashes of Ariandel. Imo, this autoblock makes up for its downside, giving you the poise of a greatsword, with the speed of a straight sword, all with an incoming damage reduction of a shield. 'Course, I'm mainly a mage, so my opinion may not be the best..
