My Router is 1 Floor beneath me...Does wireless affect my gameplay?
UPDATE: I have Spectrum 100mbps internet package. Whatever that means lol It was best they offered in my area. Also I have a CAT6 cable otw and I will be going wired. My gf laptop is running 36 download and 9 upload and my ps4 is currently running 14 download and 6 upload wireless upstairs. I will post results once I get wired and see if it makes a difference.
In my time in Destiny ive only seen myself a red bar maybe 3-5 times. But I dont know anything about how all this works. For all I know I could be lagging without knowing and as a green bar.
If my router is downstairs and only 1 laptop is using internet while im playing destiny, does my gameplay suffer? I have TWC or now known as Spectrum with a new router. It says on ps4 my connection speed (download) is 13.1 mbps and (upload) is 5.9mbps. My signal strength says 100%. Will connecting directly to router make a difference for me? Some pvp matches feel off as far as timing goes. Sometimes ill start shooting someone than they will down me so quickly as if im a few frames behind or something. Little things I notice occasionally.
I honestly have no clue so if anyone can give me some advice on if my setup is a problem or if I should move my ps4 into my living room to plug in through a wire. My GF likes to watch her shows down their at night and I like playing Destiny at night upstairs so its not an ideal move for us but if it makes a difference then I might have to trade places with her...although doubtful lol. 1 ReplyThere is a big difference between wired and wireless gameplay. However in the terms of just wireless, your gameplay shouldn't be affected as if your right next to it. If you want the best possible go wired, however a wireless connection is not horrible. I used to play on a 3 mb download connection speed wireless, I only had a red bar or lagged when my brother streamed his HD 4k porn or whatever the hell he did. Other than that it didn't affect gameplay or the gameplay for others.
