Author here - yes, I removed all of my mods (a little over 100) from Bethesda.net. They won't be coming back until Bethesda gets their [censored] together. Specifically, they need to:
Rescind their decision to disallow private mods. If they are trying to curb piracy, there are better ways. If they want ideas, they should ask for them instead of just working in a vacuum.
Rescind their decision to restrict the number of mods that a console user can have active at any time.
Restore the ability to search by mod author. Removing this capability shows that they want control over what mods (and mod authors) are popular, and which ones are not. This is something that needs to be determined organically, and it needs to come back.
Give us some REAL comment moderation tools. Specifically, we need the following capabilities on our mod pages: The ability to delete comments. The ability to lock comments. These existed previously, and never came back after the site upgrade.
Be more transparent about what exactly is going on. Ask the community questions (not just the cool kids) and get feedback before making decisions as sweeping as listed in my previous bullet points.
Increase the storage space allowed on the XB1. This not only needs to happen for Skyrim, but for Fallout 4. It's still stuck at 2 gigs!
Fix the damned CK. It's a mess.
I'm not one of the "cool" mod authors, so my opinion means jack squat to them.
That said, I don't anticipate them changing directions on any of this - so.. my mods are probably not coming back to Bethesda.net. I'm very sorry. :(
If you've noticed that all of the Seraphim body and armor mods are gone, this is why. The author is pissed at Bethesda and removed them all.

I could care less because every time I check the mod lists I get irritated that those damn seraphim mods even exist. Some horny ass dudes playing Skyrim man, yall need to figure it out. I don't count this as a loss at all.

1 ReplyDoes anyone actually use bnet mods? Using a proper mod manager and dirty edit cleaner like LOOT is the only way to ensure stability.

1 ReplySome requests are valid. The rest aren't.

4 RepliesOh, for a moment I thought he was someone that made good mods. No major loss here. I honestly hated loading up the mod menu and just seeing 8,000 "female body replacer" pieces of shit. Hell, somehow it's pretty damn sad for a game like Skyrim to have them be so popular.

Some of his points can be valid but there are a few that are kind of wrong. First off i think that allowing mod creators to delete or pin certain comments is wrong, this is for the same reason that i dont think game creators should be allowed to do this on places like steam or console digital stores, it can end up being used to mislead people. The other points would be in regards to console mods, i dont think bethesda just simply threw out a random number and decided that, that low number would be the limit. It is far more likely that bethesda worked with microsoft and sony (which all groups even said they were working together on the issue of mods on console) and decided that these numbers would be appropriate limits to for the hardware they were working with (especially since they cant demand that people buy an external hard drive just to be able to use mods, sony in particular could not do this). Perhaps for the os4 pro and the scorpio (when it comes out) modifications to the limits could be made, but for right now i think the limits are understandable. As for this like not allowing private mods (or what ever the first point is) not sure what exactly that entails but it sounds like something rather minor that isnt worth getting so upset about that you delete all of your stuff. This goes the same for the not allowing people to search by mod creator anymore, sure it is an odd thing to suddenly get rid of, but i dont think it was apart of some conspiracy to take control of everything, nor is it as massive of a deal that it warrants deleting your stuff.

4 Repliescant have your cringy body mods for girl characters anymore? big deal
-
1 ReplyWasnt the limit on active console mods set by MS and Sony though? Its different on both consoles, doesnt seem logical for Bethesda to go "Well Xbox can have this many active....but -blam!- those Sony guys".
Yes I am well aware of Bethesdas appalling track record on Playstation
9 RepliesThat's a bloody shame, as Alpine put out some of the best mods, and many of them are still in my mod list. The heavy handed way that Bethesda manages mods, is a large part of why I simply went back to playing Oldrim on PC. There's thousands of great mods on the Nexus, and none of the restrictions. I'll stick to PC for Bethesda games, since at least then you can clean up all the garbage files they tend to leave in their "finished" product.
