Chaperone quest (shindig in the crucible) thorn quest got made easier but this got made harder!?
So recently I decided to give the chaperone quest a go seeing as I had nothing to do (also I want to use the gun before Gary destroys it). But it is extremely hard to get at least 2 kills every life when it has a 15 or so meter range and half my bullets don't do anything. A lot of people who have chaperone either got it by using special, doing Srl or private matches. But all that has been patched. The special thing doesn't make sense anymore seeing as you can't use a shotgun as a primary so maybe that could be reverted.
The thing which really annoys me though is that they nerfed the thorn quest so that deaths don't count anymore so anyone can get it. The problem is that people who got it in year 1 basically got slapped in the face.
This destroys and counter arguement against making shindig in the crucible easier, despite annoying people who actually got it through skill in year 2. Now I'm not suggesting make deaths not count and shotgun kills give 2% because that would be so easy.
So what do I suggest?
Make it so you lose something like 5% if you go negative in that game. You don't need to make special weapon kills count this way. What I like about my solution is that 1 bad game can't ruin everything. It lowers the pressure on less skilled players because they can get 1 or 2 last word kills then use a shotgun to increase there kd ratio. That way it makes shindig in the crucible possible for more people but it'll take the bad players a long time to complete it (without lots of frustration of going because you had to use special a lot to win gunfights).
Obviously it's not my job to balance stuff but this easily by far the hardest part quest and it doesn't seem fair how thorn quest was nerfed and this never will be.

I've completed the quest step now so thanks for the tips. I camped in rift up to 70% and equipped it at the end of games until 100% if you're interested.

I mean I had my boyfriend do it for me back in year two, because I really suck with TLW. And back then, I couldn't even use any hand cannon whatsoever. He did it in a couple games, because he was just good with it. The only advice I can offer is to learn how to use it; TLW is a drastically different gun from most handcannons, and requires a different kind of play style to use effectively.

do mayhem clash on a Hunter and use gold gun and get 20 kills and no deaths.

1 ReplyI did it in Combined Arms. When you're about to win a match, go to the back of the map and equip The Last Word. Wait for your team to win and gain 3% Rinse and repeat. It takes a damn long time but I'm garbage with TLW so it's the best way for me.

Equip tlw during a mayhem week. I did it with pre patch sunbreaker in about 2 games.

I did this quest in year two legit and it was easy nothing to do with special ammo use the last word play smart I got it done in a handful of games I want to say 2-3 games I can't remember exactly but it was fast if you get a kill streak going medals count for so much too And if you are really struggling wait for mayhem clash then every time you have your super or heavy equip the last word medals for double kills,super medals and kill streaks give you like %5 even %2 for winning

I did the Chaperone quest in the Crucible in two days or something. Just get to know the recoil and go only close quarters.

Shindig was easy...? Got it done in about 5 matches

Just equip Last Word at the end of a match if your team are about to win. Gets you about 3% per win. Grind it out

Be cautious and hang back, find a good camping spot where you can stay alive longer and keep coming out to throw nades and use your supers. Unless it's a map you're particularly good at and are confident, then go for it. Just pick your strongest set up and be careful on maps you're not comfortable with.

Have last word equipped but use a side arm since they out perform hand cannons at every range now.

Edited by Casual: 4/22/2017 6:44:05 PMJust put on a machine gun. When you get heave ammo equip TLW and get matching gun kills. Once you die or run out of heavy ammo take off TLW.

If your having a hard time, just wait until you are sure you are going to win, then hid and equip it at the last minute. Also you can use a side arm and a sticky grenade and get 2 kills pretty easy. Also when you have your super.. hide, equip kill people. Hide un-equip. If you're having a great match keep it on. if you are getting trashed un-equip it. good luck.
