Why is the Cabal ship still on the Dreadnaught?

"Cabal protocol is to detonate any ship that crashes." - Zavala The Skyburner Cabal ship that rammed into the Dreadnaught in order to take out the King is still on board. Why? What purpose does it still serve? Similar to my other post, "Where were the Awoken before the Cabal invasion?", I will submit a couple of theories as to why the Cabal ship is still onboard the Dreadnaught. Theory 1: If the core of the Dreadnaught explodes, it blows up the Dreadnaught and most of the Solar System. The Red Legion wants to invade Earth, so Earth should be there in the first place for them to conquer. The Skyburner ship is huge. It's big enough to, when it explodes, blow up the core and the Dreadnaught, as well as half the Solar System. The Cabal could've decided that the Skyburner ship should stay where it is. Theory 2: If the Skyburner ship is still on the Dreadnaught after all this time, then the Cabal are probably still gathering intel on the hive. The Dreadnaught has been around for a long time, having frequent encounters with the Traveler. The Dreadnaught has a lot of information on the Traveler and the light that the Cabal could use to their advantage. Not to mention the amount of hive technology that the Cabal could utilize for their invasion. Those are my theories as to why the Cabal Skyburner ship is still on the Dreadnaught. Again, always fun to speculate.

  • Makes you wonder what role the Dreadnaught will play in D2. With Oryx dead and the Taken in disarray, it's more of a mausoleum now, but there's still a lot of ship undiscovered.

  • The reason it's still there is because one of the Bond Brothers was drunk at the wheel and wanted to see what this giant, rectangle piece of shit was. As we can all see, he didn't have a pilot license yet.

    • Even a basic play though clearly answers this question. During the Siva crisis we don't go back their so we don't no the state of the ship during that timeline

          • I honestly don't get your question. The ship's condition is no where near functionality. The guardian have already defuse the bomb in the strike shield brothers. This question is pointless?

            • Let's not exclude the possibility that the ship has just been over taken by the hive by now. The skyburners are just one legion. A legion who has lost all of its major leaders and got forced into a battle they didn't want to participate in. One of the shield brothers even suggested they should mutiny. The cabal may just not want to stick with that old order or they may just not be in a position to carry out that order.

            • In the Shield Brothers strike, we kept them from using the charges that would be used to blow up their ship, which they had attached to the Dreadnaught core.

            • One of the reasons the Cabal went to the dreadnaught was because they wanted to find a way to stop out ghosts and our light from bringing us back as Cabal field intelligence found that hive have the capabilities to do so. That's probably how the Cabal killed/captured the traveler in D2

Most of the awoken soldiers are dead fighting the taken when the dreadnought arrived.

              • They were using as a beach head and an HQ, so they had no intention of detonating it. Self destruct would only apply if they were boarded and overwhelmed, or if they had crashed during a battle and had no choice but to scuttle it.

Someone in the story said that the vanguard intercepted an order for the Cabal to crash the ship and use it as a beachhead. The order to detonate it probably doesn't come into effect until they're done with whatever they're doing. From a story/logic standpoint, they should be ready, but that doesn't really matter in Destiny. The game's main areas are fixed sets. Every planet's main areas are shared between every player, so as to make sure everyone is always on the same page. Since most people have different progress in the story at different times, they have to keep the areas mostly the same throughout all of the missions. Having something as big as the Cabal ship removed from the Dreadnought would fundamentally change the whole thing. Another reason would be that they simply don't know what to do. We killed all of their leaders during the story, so the remaining Cabal troops may just be scrambling and hanging on to whatever they have.

              • We know from Grimoire that the Cabal crashed the ship in order to find Oryx and extract information about the Traveller and the nature of Ghosts from the Hive. They're probably still doing that.

              • "That's not a crash site, it's a beachhead." - Zavala I always assumed the ship was stuck in the Dreadnaught after it got lodged into it, and from what I saw from the war ships in the sky on Vertigo and the end of the Dust Palace strike, they don't seem to hand backwards boosters. Also blowing up the Dreadnaught would be way more devastating, considering the Dreadnaught is a paradox. That's my two strange coins
