Depends, if it's just regular play, then who cares. Competitive play on console, then no, probably not fair.
-
If it's a shooter game on console than no.
-
4 RepliesI don't see the advantage to it, makes Button combos and angles impossibly awkward for fighting games :^)
-
lmao, these threads are quite entertaining.
-
Of it's on pc yeah. If it's on console then I'd say no.
-
3 RepliesAre race wheels and fight sticks fair?
-
I'm assuming you mean with consoles, in which case no. No it's nit
-
14 RepliesIt's cheating plane and simple not only that it's killing the FPS genre as a hole so keep cheating but don't come back crying when no one is playing FPS that allow this to continue i for one will not buy competitive FPS games till this is addressed and fixed talk with your wallet let some pricy AAA titles flop till they learn we don't want cheating in our games and dedicated servers are a must

Edited by ReignofSpartain: 4/25/2017 8:57:20 PMI dont really see it that way Controller, keyboard.... just mediums that our hands are used to. Just go with whatever makes you more confortable. Id still be first in every SWAT match anyways (when i used to)
-
Voted yes because if not every PC player would need to use a controller
-
5 RepliesIf you want to use a mouse and keyboard... play games on PC.
-
No. I understand kb/m is a little wonky on console, but it still increases accuracy if you know how to use it.
-
All the people here dont know that MnK rarely affects most shooters on console
-
I'd say unfair. A keyboard and mouse are significantly more precise and a decent player would crush the competition
-
It really depends on your skill level.
A person who is really good with a keyboard and mouse will always win against a person who is good with a controller, provided the connection is good and the lag is minimal.
I'm giggling like a fag reading the replies of people that say mouse aiming is hard and gives no advantage. The people saying this are most likely console kids who picked up and used a mouse for a few minutes years ago. Lol gtfo of here. I'm tempted to also get D2 on my xbone just to make you shitheads cry for a ban. xD

Life isn't "fair". We all need to just get over things.

24 RepliesEdited by Demp223: 4/23/2017 5:06:00 PMLet me clear the air for everyone with facts about gamepads vs Keyboard + Mouse regarding any advantages or disadvantages on a console using a converter like XiM. I'm 46. Been playing consoles games of every type since the first Atari with Pong in 1977. I've had Atari, Nintendo, Intellivision, Sega, PlayStations and Xboxes. That's 40 yrs of console gaming and a whole lot of gamepads. Started playing FPS on computer since the first Wolfenstein back in 1993 with KEyboard/mouse. Doom, Quake, Far Cry, Half life, FEAR Once the internet evolved to support gameplay lobbies I primarily played fps in that realm as I could play people from all over the world like now. Plus building my own PC with latest processors and video cards was far superior in graphics to consoles. Although consoles today are dam impressive graphics wise, that's where PC was 15 years ago. Unreal Tournament and Mech Warrior were my games. You guys complain about lag. Hahahaha. You have no idea what it was like waiting up to 30 minutes just to get a good connection and party together to play a match over a dial up connection. I use an XiM and gaming keyboard and Mouse for my XB1 now and is my primary game platform as my nephew and friends are on it because it's cheaper than a gaming computer and simple for everyone to party chat on. Even as finely tuned as it is, there is no advantage in gameplay "on a console" with a KBM combo vs game pad for me except from a fatigue standpoint as my thumbs get tired and fingers cramp after an hour or so of playing with a game pad. I work on cars for a living and my hands are tired and KBM let's me play for several hours easily. Consoles with gamepads and the games are designed to work together specifically, XiM allows you to use a KBM quite efficiently but it's a compromise as you are converting the KBM signals to mimic the controller and there is a subtle delay. 1st and biggest comparison. Gamepads get aim assist and high look and movement speed. I don't get aim assist with XiM so my aim has to be spot on or I miss. It is easier for me to aim with a mouse vs sticks but I've also been playing with a mouse for decades in fps heavily so I'm well practiced. In order for my aim to be steady with my Mouse especially while strafing or jumping to stay on target, my movement speed has to be slowed way way down compared to sticks. I still have a fast look speed just not a fast movement like a pad can. Here's why-Sticks can do a 360 look/move spin and return to center or reverse with ease with just a flick in 1 inch of movement. I have a 13" gaming mouse pad. With the mouse starting in the center going left or right to either edge results in my look only doing a bit more than a 180 turn. To do a 360 I have to pick my mouse up from edge and move it back to center for another swipe. Basically 11" to do a 360. Plus having to work 4 separate keys to move forward, back, left , right. Not exactly fast and in a close quarters battle with opponent jumping around right next to me I usually trade kills. Strafe side to side speed and reaction to button input is noticeably slower compared to sticks. Sticks can go from standstill to hard right and back to left and then right and over and over again with very little delay in transition. With XIM and kb <> button there is a noticeable delay before reversing direction giving my opponent and opportunity to headshot me. This is the trade off to better aiming for me-less movement speed. Jumping puzzles are easier with sticks and when they come up I grab the pad as it sits between my mouse and keyboard. Button layout on a gamepad is quicker to access and utilize for secondary actions like weapon switching, jump/crouch, use, supers etc. Even with a fully programmed keyboard and switched buttons the advantage for consoles still goes to game pad just slightly. For me it's comfort and ergonomics. There is no advantage and actually a disadvantage given movement speed in relation to controller movement.

It depends if said game equally supports both KBM and Gamepads. Then it's a matter of who can git gud better.
-
Depends on the game. In most shooters it'll be an advantage in terms of aim. If you're playing a fighter I feel like you're screwed. I'd much rather play a racer with a controller. Keyboard hands down rts Sports game hands down controller

6 RepliesEdited by Talk2MeToner: 4/21/2017 11:41:37 AMAnyone who tells you it doesn't give an extreme advantage is an uninformed idiot. Just watch gameplay comparisons in any game and watch how much faster they aim with mouse and keyboard.... not having joysticks is the main reason. With a mouse you can aim for heads so fast you look like a robot. Watching overwatch pc gameplay looks like an entirely different game.
-
Mouse and keyboard is better for games like overwatch and Cod. In destiny you're better off using a controller.
-
2 RepliesMy dad actually uses a keyboard / mouse setup on his Xbox. For some reason the guy just can't properly grip a controller. Using a keyboard / mouse on a console compared to PC is completely different and much harder in my opinion
-
In my experience keyboard and mouse is shit and i do better with a controller (even without any aim assist pr target assist and also with max sensitivity). But others say keyboard and mouse is better so... In other words it could be a mixed bag for many situations

Edited by QuietNumber 23: 4/23/2017 6:30:23 PMThe only advantage you get is with aiming and the larger amount of binds you can have but I doubt Destiny will take advantage of that. Other than that your more or less at a disadvantage. Not to mention that the chances of Destiny 2 being cross platform is really low. I'm bet most of the people who voted no haven't had any real experience with KBM and are just being ignorant, the bungie.net forums are filled people like that these days...

Just watch dr Lupo, that's pure skill. You might aim better with a mouse, but doing grenades,Melee, movement, supers, acrobatics on a key board is harder.
