If you hang out at The Flood, you know what I mean.
Recently everyone has been sporting a signature, not the one in your profile, but under every post, commonly being "yorkie".
Now as this is a very small problem, it's starting to get annoying and will most likely get out of hand.
Thoughts?

I don't consider it spam at all, unless of course, it directly offends someone or something.

What a silly idea. yorkie ~K2 Wait, wait, wait. Does having more than one signature count as spam?

[quote][b]Posted by:[/b] FlipTaco [quote][b]Posted by:[/b] mvyorkie009 indeed you did. ur dad was cool. i still have the licences plate cover lol. also ian and i still have those gamestop traffic cones :) people kept asking us if they could have them. how many people can say they stole those things. :) and it was good meeting in person :)[/quote] That post... you lost me. So, is it against the rules to not have a signature now? ~FlipTaco[/quote] No one is forcing you to have a signature. So no it's not against the rules to not have a signature.

I dont think it's spam but I do think it's odd since you do have a user name to say who you are. I know it doesn't say exactly who you are but still. The point being is that in a conversation one doesn't often finish their sentence/thought with, "Sincerely, Steve." or what have you. I just don't see much of a point to it.

I love this thread, it's filled with forum ninjas and B.net employees messing around and making my day *saves thread* OT: it can get a bit annoying when too many people using it (I've been in a thread full of them) but really it's not too big of a problem when only a small amount of the community is using it. More than likely a warning would be put into place for the people doing the offense.

[quote][b]Posted by:[/b] True Underdog If it's a simple "signing of a post" I don't see why it's that big a deal and I certainly don't consider it against the rules. If it was a link to a group advertisement, or a thread someone's trying to advertise, then I would probably send the person a PM or a warning, telling them to stop. Why, you ask? [quote]2. Do not be selfish or a jerk.[/quote] -TGP-[/quote]It's almost turning int- BBBBBBBBBBBRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

I've never found signatures annoying. Silly sometimes, yes, but *eats a sammich* has been going on in the Flood for years and I still chuckle every time I see somebody close their post as such. Snakie says: lrn2chill

Maybe its because I remember the old style signatures, but the small sigs at the bottom of current posts don't bother me. At all.

[quote][b]Posted by:[/b] Reykjavik I don't see the value of a signature, because your username accompanies the post, but it doesn't really bother me. It is a bit annoying when people steal other peoples signatures, it kind of defeats any purpose the signature had to begin with.[/quote] Yeah, but people aren't supposed to judge your posts by your name. They're supposed to judge you by their content. So adding your name to your posts forces people to remember your name, and thus to judge your posts by your name. The judgment, of course, is usually "this person is weird."

It should be a rule that all signatures must be unique, and there is a required amount of BB code and random characters that must be added. Also, sigs are required, and not posting them should be banable. [b][i]#*-+~ Super EAKLE, Master of Whip Cream ~+-*#[/b][/i] Leave it like that for two months and we'd start missing the "Yorkie" outbreak. [Edited on 06.30.2010 8:54 PM PDT]

only if there really long and pointless.....if its just something simple like this [quote]fatman1236[/quote] then im fine with it.
-
It seems the general consensus is that signatures will stay. I don't see what the big deal is OP. It is only a line at the end of their post with their name. -Blue-
-
What is this I don't even.

[quote][b]Posted by:[/b] phan7om lol @ this thread, it's awesome. Yorkie is a legend.[/quote] I'd consider yorkie a legend if he actually did something to earn that status.

I really don't see how it is spam as long as the main post has a point. yorkie >:D [Edited on 06.30.2010 8:36 PM PDT]

The problem with spam is that it interferes with normal forum functioning. A signature makes me move my scroll wheel a grand total of 1/8 of a click. It really doesn't get in the way. I am sure that if someone had a 6000 character signature it would be counted as spam, or annoying links. But it doesn't bump the thread, and it only takes a line or two of space. Maybe it should be addressed when every single problem has been fixed. I don't see the value of a signature, because your username accompanies the post, but it doesn't really bother me. It is a bit annoying when people steal other peoples signatures, it kind of defeats any purpose the signature had to begin with.
