Complete BS, unless you aren't going to allow exotics in the crucible. Why should a lucky minority of players get a competitive edge in pvp?
English
-
You call it a competitive edge, I call them just being better than you. If they can make the best with what they have and dominate, it doesn't make them OP, it just makes them formidable. I'm not being snide, I'm being brutally honest. I see you have the emblem for completing all AoT Crucible challenges; therefore, you shouldn't have anything to worry about, right?
-
Sure whatever you say. Hopefully it comes back to bite you in the ass in D2 and you are getting slaughtered by whatever is the new mida or thorn and you can't get one. Do you consider red bar players just a formidable challenge?
-
Red bar players are the most formidable challenge lol, no that's something that is beyond debating, it just needs to be fixed but, who knows if they'll solve that problem after all this time of, well, not solving it
-
Vex mythoclast, suros regime, the last word, & thorn were all exotic weapons that gave a competitive advantage in year 1. Skill had nothing to do with it.
-
True, yet it served as a learning experience for Bungie, hopefully, and it won't happen again... hopefully, if they aren't retarded and forget how trial-and-error works.
-
Well ice breaker is running rampant in the crucible right now, so Bungie didn't learn too much lol
-
Well, I'd say that's skill. It's a sniper, not a scout rifle or a hand cannon.
-
My point was that it's an RNG exotic that gives a competitive advantage, just like the big 4 from year 1.
-
If the Icebreaker is a competitive advantage then so is every other sniper. No, the four you mentioned earlier were too versatile to be tolerated by players, as they were primaries; thus, they were scrapped because Bungie didn't have time for weapon balancing. They've been working on D2 since the production of D1 got messy.
-
Ice breaker gives a competitive advantage because it bypasses the special ammo economy in the crucible.

Edited by Glyfik: 4/20/2017 5:20:26 AMIt needs a reason to be called exotic. It will have strengths and weaknesses. If people utilize that, since it's an option, then okay, works for them. If you get shot in the face by a well-placed bullet from a well-versed player, then sucks to suck, your corpse will sink into the mud to remind you that you shouldn't stroll out into the open when a sniper is keeping watch. If you didn't know they were there to begin with, then they did their job. That's combat. Always has been, always will be.
-
& if one sniper can constantly stay perched somewhere while another sniper has to move around the map to get more ammo for his weapon, wouldn't you say the 1st sniper has a competitive advantage?
-
Listen, if a sniper can stay in one place for longer than, like, twenty seconds, then their tactic is working. It's sad, but sometimes campers get what they want: stupid players. There's a scope glint for a reason.
-
If a sniper can stay in one place for longer than, like, twenty seconds, then their tactic is working.
& since ice breaker makes that possible while other snipers have to move in order to keep sniping, isn't that a competitive advantage?
-
Well, yes, but only because the player is a good sniper. When I said their "tactic" is working, I meant they've reached a stage in their career where they can maintain a post by killing the guardians who try to take it from them. They're talented, and the only thing that beats talent, is greater talent. They spend more time fighting against players than other guardians, and they happen to use snipers quite a bit throughout that period of time. You know that, man.
-
If someone is using any other sniper in their special slot besides ice breaker, they can only kill 4 guardians before having to leave their spot to get more ammo. Skill has nothing to do with it; it's because of the special ammo economy & ice breaker's ability to circumvent it.
-
You're missing the point. It is exotic, it is a custom that it excels above other snipers. If that sniper is good and kills four maybe five, shit, maybe twenty players, then he deserves every one of them. He used an exotic weapon to its advantage. Sucks for the enemy team that they couldn't figure a way to counter him, better yet flush him out like a good player would think to do. Yes, it is an advantage. Yes, it is the player's benefit. Any further questions?
-
Yes, it is an advantage. Yes, it is the player's benefit. Any further questions?
That was the only one, since my point was that RNG exotics still give a competitive advantage in the crucible.
-
Edited by Glyfik: 4/20/2017 5:55:28 AMAnd Three of Coins undermine their due diligence. If a player gets two or three exotics within a year, then so be it. Lucky him, as a matter of fact. However, I hope to all hell they don't make an exotic a must-have for any of the raids, or other encounters. I think you know which ones I'm referring to.
-
I'd rather have strong exotics that are easier to get than weak exotics that are harder to get, but agree to disagree.
-
So we agree that you are in favor of giving people a very real advantage because of RNG. K. I hope you never get to decide on how games are balanced.
