So I was speaking to AnonPig on a different thread (link above or here) about the possibility of Oryx being still alive in some way. In order to read our respective points, it would be awesome if you could go check out the original thread, but I created this thread in order to judge what you other Lorelites thought about it. Is it possible for one of Oryx's sisters to 'conjure' him back like he did for them in XXIX: Carved in Ruin? Let me know what you think...
Edit: Thanks to Times Conflux, for telling me something which I was previously unaware of;
I think it is safe to say that Oryx is dead, utterly and completely. The reason I now believe this is because of the Touch of Malice questline and specifically the final step: to gain the Ravenous Heart from Oryx. Since we take Oryx's Heart and use it to power the weapon, I believe this means he can't be conjured back in the same way he revived Savathûn and Xivu Arath.
Since the weapon is Oryx in and of itself, it means that, perhaps, instead of his mind (or whatever it is that is left after the body is gone) resting deep in his Throne, it rests within the Touch of Malice itself.
Until next time, Lorelites.

My theory, orxy as of now IS dead but, what eris take at the end of TTK campain, was it for her orb or was it was to try and revive toland from the hive overworld, she also states that she has accepted her fate, in bringing back toland could she not also, purposely or not bring back orxy, where does she go in D2 and why? If this is already covered, sorry.
-
The only way he can come back is if a hive invokes enough sword logic to resurrect him
-
Oryx's heart empowers the touch of malice, as you said. Slowly draining our life force and those of our enemies as we slay them with the weapon. One day, when he's drained enough, he will return. Perhaps it will take decades or centuries, but a near immortal creature of darkness that's survived for potentially millions of years can afford to play the long game.
-
In theory yes he is dead but really oryx/aurash is just a shell for his worm and we did'nt kill the worm so he coming back bigger hopefully was so cool first time i got to end of raid and he crawled up the ship #memories#
-
Yes. Every Tuesday he comes back to life. Along with Atheon, crota, Aksis and skoklos.
-
Why do you need Oryx when you can have Nokris.
-
Nah he'll be back in Destiny 2, they need an easy way out to pad out their game.
-
I belive that his soul or something similar lives in the Touch of Malice. What if Eris Morn helped us create the weapon so that we would think that Oryx is dead? What if its like her rock with Tolands soul? What if he lives within the weapon, so that he can later return when we arent prepared?

idc a dlc in destiny 2 and a lore card and its all good
-
9 RepliesConfirmed as "no" by Eris Morn Do you even walk around the tower brah?? SMH
-
He's wished back with the dragon balls
-
Ikora Rey in The Will of Crota says that
To Hive the death is relative.
-
We haven't killed him yet he is part of the touch of malice so when the cabal come and the destroy every thing they will destroy the touch of malice #satireIguess
-
13 RepliesI mean we "killed" him in his throne room and im pretty sure in hive world that means youre dead dead
-
2 RepliesOryx's lore was too good to kill imo
-
1 ReplyRead the last few items in the book of sorrow, he basically bound himself to the touch of malice, so by using it he guaranteed that part of him would stay alive
-
6 RepliesIt's actually because we take his heart and are using it to fuel the Touch of Malice that I believe Oryx could be revived. If I recall correctly, Oryx once revived both Savathun and Xivu Arath.
-
no, she'll be back looking for our guardians D.
-
2 RepliesWait if all of weapons get destroyed doesn't that mean he dies?
-
I agree with the ToM stuff, and I also agree with the fact that Oryx is completely dead. However, Oryx's throne is still there, and there are a bunch of raids, story missions, and questlines that have to do with other leaders who want the Taken throne. So in a sense, Oryx lives on in his disciples and sons. *Side note* At this point Oryx is so dead. I mean, he had to have been killed like over 10 million times by people who keep running the raid and stuff like that. It would make more sense if you could only run the raid once from a lore standpoint. But from a fun/grinding standpoint, I'm glad you can play it more than once.
-
Eris seems to think we haven't, very odd considering but maybe there are still secrets of the Hive we don't know yet. I'm honestly more worried about Oryx's sisters Savathun and Xivu Arath coming to take the King's place.
-
So at the end oryx will become bowser
-
Doesn't he live on through the Touch of Malice?
-
6 RepliesI mean, omnigul undid her death, so...anythings possible
-
1 ReplyDunno. I've heard Eris mumble something about it when running past her in the tower a few times. Something like "The Taken King defeated, but not dead...". Been a while since I've heard her say it.

Oryx was able to revive savathun and xivu arath because after he killed them, they go to their throne world. This is what happens to oryx after you kill him in regicide. From here he could have been revived. However, in the Kings fall raid we enter his throne world and kill him there. That means that he is dead and will stay dead.
