Soooo i got that right that our stuff from the vauot is gone in destiny 2 cause it got destroyed. Valid reason. What about the armor we wear on our guardians? I can't imagine my guardian running around in a pyjama when the city gets attacked. So maybe equip it for destiny 2 as a placeholder with starting base stats and the reminder that it got badly damaged beyond repair while the attack happened. Mayyybe even giving the players the option of repairing those upon completing a certain end game activity. Thoughts?
