I only use shotgun and they are still very good nobody expects them anymore, it's easy to run around when nobody else can shotgun you back

No, they are in a great place. Shotguns are good on some maps and still very effective if you can actually play the game. They are not the free-kill-easymod-machines they used to be. Thank you Bungie for making PvP even somewhat balanced and most importanly very skill dependent!
