Why are Hunters insomniacs?
According to the Dream Eater Grasps...

Among the other Dream Eater pieces, I'm wondering why the armor set suggests that Hunters are so opposed to sleep. This is my favorite armor set in the game, partly because of how interesting the text is, so I'm really curious.

Just wanna point out that the quotes completely contradict the name:

A lot of the lore talks about hunters being the ones who explore the wilderness and get right into the thick of things and are "free", whereas warlocks tend to the arcane research and the titans tend to defending the walls. The longer you sleep the less time you have to live life

You have to be able to stay awake to stalk your prey, which is the definition of a hunter. If you condition yourself to be able to do this, it would follow that insomnia would be more common amongst your kind.

I think they are scared of their own tactics. If you read the grimoire cards about the hunter and then their subclasses it shows that they are like stalkers,sneaky and quiet. And they might fear that when they sleep and enemy will stab them with a knife

They're the agitated wanderers, and they were the ones that explored the most after the collapse, which also means they know what's out there in the dark. Some of my favorite armor by the way. I will never take that cloak off, best in the game in my opinion.

1 ReplyI believe most Hunters are emotionally and mentally disturbed and so they're naturally violent and a bit paranoid, in nature. Like how most Titans are war heroes and most Warlocks are nerds. In one of the grimoire pages, one Hunter beat an Eliksni to death with her Ghost because of her hatred of a Kell. I think he killed her teammates or something, I haven't read it in a while. It's ok, I use all three classes and my Hunter is really violent, my Titan is heroic, and my Warlock is very nerdy.

Hunters are meant to be solo characters who roam hostile lands to find and kill the enemy If you sleep for a long time or you aren't a light sleeper then something else kills you. You learn to stay awake to survive

Solodolo living in the wilds. Isolation brings with it various levels of insanity. I would assume extreme levels of insomnia and insanity could manifest itself into an assumed physical form to shift blame from the root cause. Thus creates a boogeyman persona. If the dream eaters are a "thing."

Why does everyone assume it's Nightmares? They love exploration. They love seeing new things. How could you sleep when there's so much to explore? So much to discover? Just trying a different perspective on it.

4 RepliesAt a best guess, PTSD. Hunters aren't the frontliners like Titans, they're the recon- they'll see the horrors of the darkness in full before anyone else. I also remember a little story by someone a while ago applying to Nightstalker Hunters: Hunters want to go everywhere. The Void is infinite. What could that do to a Hunter?

2 RepliesMe titan. Me friends with hunter and magic man. Me do not understand why hunter and magic man so mad at me. Sometimes me make bubbles for friends. Other time me friends say mean things at me because of big slam fist. Sometimes me just scared and do not know what to do. Please hunter and space magic man do not hate titan anymore me want to be friend. Also why hate me big scary fist it hurt big bug things, scary skeleton people, big frogs , and takin guys for friends so we all live and play together. Me try to not punch with scary lightning fist but some times magic man come back from dead and DAT really scary so me punch sometime hunter sneak up on titan and me so scared me punch hard. Please don't hat titan me just want friend.

44 RepliesTitans carry the burden of the defense of the people, being the unshakable foundation of strength even in the face of inevitable doom (firebreak Titans who literally draw an enemy away by picking a defensive position and fighting until they die to keep the enemy away and focused on them alone). Warlocks walk the line of darkness by exploring the bounds of forbidden knowledge to better fight the darkness, with limitless knowledge comes limitless understanding. Hunters literally have PTSD because they had to go outside.

It's the dream eaters. They can't sleep because the dream eaters keep them awake using their dreams as fuel. I guess its some lame bungie joke that no-one but them actually gets.

If I had to wager a realistic guess it's because they are lone wolves of the wild much of the time. Have to sleep with one eye open all the time. Unrealistically? I would just kill myself rather than do this. Ghost could just revive you in the morning.
