The Oryx Challenge is to skip the Mortar Sequence. You can do 16 Bombs, or 8-8, or 8-4-4, or 12-4. Whatever. You have to detonate at least 8 Bombs for the first detonation. I used to do this whenever teams had issues with Ogre Teleporting.

I've been having this debate as well with folks on this thread. PSA you do have to kill him in one detonation. Which means you have to have a minimum of 16 bombs during detonation.

Lol I just had one post a video to defend his opinion and they did 8 4 4 and no challenge completion. It was a pre ROI video as well and 1 chest popped up. It's in his thread too.

It's people like this who join a LFG group and are adamant everything they say is correct , then blame a glitch when it doesn't work lol
-
Exactly. I been with groups that argued that with me and I just went along. And low and behold no challenge completion. The funny thing is they still won't admit they are wrong.
-
Sorry bud you are incorrect. The challenge requires you to kill him in one bomb detonation. Ie 16 bombs have to go off at once. You can have more if say you lose one to a light eater. Just run another round to have enough.
-
The challenge is to kill Oryx a minimum 4 times... 3 shades and then the big guy himself. You trigger the shade by not detonating the first set of bombs. If you decide to do 4 bombs you then trigger the shade the second time as he will be at half health and then it's shade time again automatically... I have done both 8 and 16 both work, 8 + 6 + 2 also works (if someone fails to detonate) but the key is at least 8 on the first detonation. If it makes you happy to not believe me then that's ok, but it won't change the fact that it's true...
-
Unless they have changed it, the challenge has always been to down him in one detonation. Ie minimum of 16 bombs. I've completed this challenge many many times. I've been on teams that don't get him all the way down in one phase and they chose to run one more bomb phase and decided not complete the challenge. I can assure you that not getting him down in one detonation will not complete the challenge. If you choose to do it another way feel free. Btw I mean no negativity towards you or anyone. Ive assisted alot of folks through this challenge. I honestly just want everyone to know the proper way of doing this challenge.
-
As previously stated, by many people, it can and always has been able to be done in 2 or more detonations, I have personally done it both ways pretty much from 2-3 weeks since the original challenge mode launched, nothing has changed, just a different way than was originally thought to be the only way was found... Much like the no knight strat for Oryx.
-
Then please direct me to some proof. As I've said before to others I will admit I am wrong. From my own personal experience it doesn't work. He has to go down in one detonation. No exceptions. I don't mind having a mature debate about this topic but I also like helping people and making sure false information isn't spread. We can all agree on the fact that the 16 bomb detonation works for challenge. So if I'm wrong the way I'm saying you have to do it will work. However if I'm right, and people follow up on these claims, they will be missing out on challenge loot. That's all I'm getting at.
-
What's it like to be blatantly wrong on a post? The challenge was never to do all 16 at once. My group always did 8-4-4.
-
I'll level with you. I am willing to admit I'm wrong with anything in life. If you can provide me with proof of some sort that you in fact do not have to kill him in one detonation I will admit fault and apologize for my own misinformation. Until then I want anyone who is reading these posts that I have alot of experience with this raid and have completed the challenge many times and have been told it could be done different ways only to fail challenge when doing so.

I wasn't saying you couldn't defeat him with said method. They did not complete challenge mode. That is what this is all about. You cannot complete the challenge without killing him in one detonation.
-
STOP POSTING THIS CRAP, EVERYONE KNOWS THE CHALLENGE
-
Some of the newer players, like the ones who join up at Rise of Iron. Do not know the challenges. So, chill out bud. He's Just trying to help out the people who don't know the challenge
-
But it's not helping, it's misinformation. He apparently already has experience but wants to insist
-
My team always did 20 just to be sure.
-
back in tge day doing 20 would break peoples consoles lol
-
Really? That's interesting.

I have dont this countless times to do the Oryx Challenge. You can do 8-8. Go try it, it works. Trust me. Even though these forums are toxic af. There's still some people who know what they're talking about.

Edited by PhantomBrown: 4/11/2017 12:40:51 PMYou are so wrong it's unbelievable, spouting this as fact will trip some people up and waste their time. DO NOT LISTEN TO HIM.

Well I mean I did complete it a hundred times. When we didn't bother to do the challenge when it was active we used to do 8-8. Did not work
