Using Celestial on the Oversoul to kill it super fast is a great idea, yes, but it's actually better to not use it. If you down Crota, spawn the first Oversoul, then quickly down him again before killing the first Oversoul, then just use your primary/special/heavy whatever guns to shoot down the OS, most of the time the timing will be such that he does not spawn a second OS. Killing it too fast with Celestial guarantees a second OS, which can be tense if you only have one golden gun. This way, people can use whatever they want without being forced into a "needed" subclass, and you only have one OS to deal with.
I hope this helps some of y'all out there.

I assumed the common way to do it is, down Crota, use sword, down him again, use sword, then destroy oversoul. That way it does only spawn 1 oversoul that can be shit with a Golden Gun or sniped.

1 ReplyOrrrr, just wait for him to stand up the second time and then blast over soul with golden

5 RepliesEdited by marcran75: 3/31/2017 11:30:46 PMMy team just leaves the Oversoul until Crota kneels a second time. That way you only get 1 Oversoul and everyone can shoot it. Half the team with Gjallarhorn and half with Sleeper. The Gjallarhorn sucks for the Oversoul because of the hidden exotic perk grenades and horseshoes so your rockets never actually impact it. Sleeper is a beast on it.

1 ReplyJust ignore the first OS until Crota gets back up the 2nd time. There's plenty of time w/ the Nighthawk.
-
Lmao.
-
1 ReplyI disagree. Golden Gun + Over the Horizon + Deadeye + Celestial Nighthawk = One and done! The trick is to wait until you hear the Oversoul begin to "whistle". Down Crota for the 2nd kneel, pop your Super and just wait. Sometimes the raid team you're with can get distracted, forget or just not have the proper firepower to take it down. Why risk a wipe when you can guarantee a successful cycle?
-
3 RepliesWell, then, just wait longer to kill it with GG.
-
I used NightHawk to one shot the OS and he doesn't spawn a second one
-
3 RepliesThe nighthawk is a good strategy for ease, but fire teams shouldn't really be struggling to take down the oversoul.
-
1 ReplyOr use nighthawk to do what you suggest.
-
8 RepliesI used Super Good Advice. It gives you free ammo on Crota's shield and Oversoul. Basically it's perfect.
-
The group I was in did the second down while the oversoul was up and popped it last second each time 🤷🏼♂️
-
I just wait until I see Croats shield regenerate on the second down, pop my GG and take out the oversoul, then there isn't a second one. We had two hunters, each with nighthawk alternate GG shots and no one else even had to worry about oversoul. It's all about timing.
-
Well, im always first sword so I run blade, go invis, and then get like 8 hits and the sword super
-
Use celestial nighthawk, but wait until the last second to fire. Problem solved!
-
Used it with my raid team earlier, beat it first try... and they suck sooooooo I disagree with the stupidity just expressed in the form of words
-
1 ReplyFunny thing is, that I'm a 400 hunter. I use achlyophage symbiote with deadeye and boost to range. First 3 shots down crota then I have another shot for the oversoul
-
I wait until he stands up the second time and use my CN GG to one shot both, due to being a boss ;)
-
Or just one shot it with the celestial nighthawk. Not hard to time it
-
Everybody team shot Crota to take down, then nighthawk takes oversoul after Crota is down
-
You could also hold off a little bit on nIghthawking the oversoul so you only get one to spawn
-
Edited by Swiftlock: 3/31/2017 4:42:58 PMOr you can just wait a few moments and then shoot the thing with the Nighthawk instead.
-
2 RepliesJust wait to shoot it. I used CN but waited until Crota basically stood up the second time to shoot it. One oversoul this way.
-
2 RepliesI only use celestial to down Crota and kill the oversoul to save the team a rocket.
