Funny. My district's budget is definitely being reduced. Not because of "white" but because this admin wants to cut almost every sector to fund his wall and expand the military.

 • Straight up lying. Trump didn't cut education. I sometimes think liberals like yourself are so innately deceitful you cannot even help yourself when it comes to falsehood. Trump only proposed a budget cut yesterday and " the proposed budget is merely a blueprint. Congressional lawmakers will draft their own budget proposals, and the plan Congress passes will form the basis of the appropriation bills that fund the government." Stop your liberal lying.

 • So you are saying it wont. It will and you know it. His budget set the blueprint. Correct. It completely shows his intention. Hence, why its definitely going to be cut. As if his sec of education pick isnt already an indication of public education funding cuts. Stop playing stupid and saying it wont. Stop with your conservative simple thought There is plenty of evidence saying it will. Hiding behind it not being passed yet isnt an argument. Sometimes i wonder if you keep yourself ignorant on PURPOSE

 • Oh don't get me wrong I HOPE it's cut. I would eliminate the dept of education completely. There's simply no excuse for the performance of our school systems compared to the money we spend. I support vouchers 100%.

 • That explains why you are so ignorant 100% I bet you cant wait to indoctorinate your children into your bubble. Kids learn and pick up what is around them. If they dont learn greater values, they will end up picking up your bigoted views and amplifying them. Cry globalism all you want but you will end up setting your children up for failure. You could always throw them into a trump U clone.

 • What did I say that was bigoted? I'll wait for your answer. You have no retort to anything I've said regarding our failing public schools and instead just go on a personal insult rant. How very liberal of you.

 • You libs that control the public schools have had DECADES to figure out how to fix the problem. You can't. The only thing you can do is throw more money at the problem and play make believe with the results.

 • Yhea, afterschool programs, and tutoring. That is what I am part of. "Libs" did not have decades. In total yes, but you must be forgetting the republicans ever existing the last few decades too. In fact, President George W. Bush signed the NCLB (No Child Left Behind) act. You must be ignoring all the other countries of high educational attainment having public education. You have to ignore it to make your argument. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.usnews.com/news/best-countries/best-education%3Fcontext%3Damp
Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland spend some of the most money on education as a percentage of their gross domestic product, according to the World Bank. The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development has said that levels of education funding do not necessarily affect academic performance, but these Scandinavian nations all ranked in the top quarter, generally outperforming Asian nations where students are pressured to perform well. No. 22 South Korea, where children attend school each day of the week, was the third Asian nation on the list, preceded by No. 10 Japan and No. 20 Singapore. Switzerland, one of the 20 countries new to the rankings this year, placed No. 6, followed by the U.S. at No. 7, four spots worse than last year. Otherwise, the top 10 Best Countries for Education remained rather consistent. Nations with federally run education systems ranked well, as with No. 2 United Kingdom, and poorly, as with Iran. Perceptions on highly decentralized systems, like those of No. 1 Canada and No. 41 Chile, also varied. Countries further down the ranking have lower literacy and enrollment rates. In Pakistan, ranked last, student Malala Yousafzai won the Nobel Prize for her advocacy in fighting Taliban restrictions on females attending school
I can run circles around you on education all day and why you are wrong.

 • Three replies to one post? Now thats just annoying. Or you got really pissed off and posted immediate and uninformed thoughts. Tutoring is not free. Just like public education and healthcare. Tutoring for free is nice, but unrealistic in this economic setting. My mother in law used to tutor for free but times are different now. I am not a tutor, but part of the process that matches these tutors with students. The tutor program is not just a afterschool library kind of tutoring. The tutors are full teachers that arrange meeting times with parents and go to the childs house to tutor them. Cry about it but it is paid through prearranged funds that our district sets aside anyways. The money would be there with or without the program. The article posted previously was enough to demonstrate why you are wrong but you wont take it. You can complain about the results all you want but it will always be better than the trump U vision. Since we know which is clearly better, we should improve on it. We will still have plenty posibilities for educational attainment. Privatizing would reduce that for sure.

 • There is a gulf between iran and UK. The US is, without a doubt, much more akin to the latter. Stop ignoring for sake of the argument. It also demonstrates that it IS very possible to have a great education system under public. The difference lies in somewhere OTHER than the fact that is a public education system. You would have us do away with public education as a whole while i would rather keep the public and move the slider closer to the UK side of the spectrum. A system with CERTAIN EVIDENCE that is attainable. Dont you get it.

 • Are you comparing colleges to K-12 system? Or are you talking about college only pritatization? As in.. making higher education exclusive again and reducing the number of degree qualified people? Is that your way of improving american education? Which is it.
