Bungie, Let's Have a Genuine Discussion About The Nanophoenix Ship.

I haven't completed Wrath of the Machine on Heroic

I've killed Aksis on Heroic and no ship

I have the Nanophoenix

In my opinion, the Nanophoenix ship is bugged similar to the drop rate of ghost shells in last years' Crimson Doubles. If you remember, those ghost shells were dropping at less than a 1% drop rate and Bungie later admitted that they were not dropping at the intended drop rate and came up with a solution - one free ghost shell for everyone who participated in Crimson Doubles. The reason I believe the Nanophoenix is bugged is because I have over 30 hard mode raid completions and have never had it drop for anyone in my fireteam - that's nearly 200 chances and not one single ship dropped. Also, I have raided with different lfg teammates every single raid and have only once actually played with someone who had it. Please acknowledge in a This Week at Bungie article that either this is working as intended (less than a 1% drop rate), or bugged and you are willing to fix - either increase the drop rate or add in the ability to purchase it with Isenfyre Tokens (I have about 40 of them now). UPDATE: At around 400 votes by players who've actually beaten the raid on heroic mode it appears as though about 1/10th of the players who have own the ship. Now remember that doesn't equal a 10% drop rate because the vote doesn't take into account how many completions each voter has. I'm at over 40 and I'm sure some players who voted are under 10 so let's calculate a few possibilities. If the average player who voted had 10 completions - 30/4000 = 0.0075 = 0.75%. Less than a 1% drop rate. If on the other hand the average player has 20 completions we are now looking at a 0.375% drop rate. Sure, 400 is still a pretty small sample size and who knows if everyone is being honest, but that definitely seems too low. I personally would consider a rare item to have somewhere between a 5% and 10% drop rate. UPDATE 2: It seems a lot of commentors are saying that I'm asking for a handout. This simply isn't the case. I, personally, think a loot system solely based on RNG is terrible without some sort of failsafe to help players that are simply unlucky. For example, say the game saves a "currency" of endgame completions that you could use to purchase items in a special Kiosk. Like, say for instance, 10 Nightfall completions for an Exotic Engram, 50 raid completions for a specific weapon, 100 raid completions for a cosmetic item like a ship or shader. A system like this would prevent those that are just unlucky from never getting the items they want (and quitting because they feel hopeless). It would still be rare and you would still have to put a ton of time into the game to get them, but at least players wouldn't get totally screwed over if they are unlucky. I don't see how anyone could be against this as you would need to do the activity 2 or 3 times more than the drop rate of an item to be able to purchase it. It wouldn't make anything easier, it would just give hope to those the game completely screws.

  • I just got it today on my 18th hard Aksis kill. Out of all the various LFG teams I've joined to get the ship, only met 3 people across them all who had it. Understandably, I was very excited getting it to drop so early on.
