It's kind of ridiculous.
Even with accessories and games it's not that bad. Let's compare to say, the PS4's launch prices.
Nintendo Switch prices:
Nintendo Switch console 300$
Breath of the Wild 60$
Second set of Joy-Con (making for 4 controllers) 80$
Another multiplayer game (BomberMan R, Fast RMX, etc.) 20-50$ (let's go with 50$ on the more expensive side)
Total: 490$
PS4 prices:
PS4 Console 400$
60 $ game (too lazy to remember the launch titles)
More controllers for 4-player 180$
Another vague multiplayer game 50$
Total:690$
(If we want to get more accurate, factor in inflation, which, albeit isn't much)
690$ x 4.6%= 721$
The PS4 with accessories, a 60$ single player game, and a 4 player game at launch, is 231$ more expensive than the Switch with the same items.
So stop complaining about the price of the system, complain about something else like the lack of 3rd party thus far or some other legitimate complaints.
Once again, I would like to reiterate this is comparing the prices at launch and not currently with how much the PS4 costs right now, because I know people will come after me over that.

Keep in mind that the switch isn't a top tier console meaning that whilst it's cheaper it's also worse than an actual PS4/Xbox one.trust me I heard about the switch and laughed cause I know Nintendo can't be as powerful as an Xbox one in handheld form

Edited by Dexter307: 4/4/2017 7:36:59 PM
Nintendo Switch prices: Nintendo Switch console 300$ Breath of the Wild 60$ Pro Controller 70$ Another multiplayer game 60$ Total: 490$ PS4 prices: PS4 Pro Console 400$ ($300 regular) 60$ Game Multiplayer game 60$ Total:520$ or 420$
Your math was off, and no one buys 4 controllers, split screen is dead. The price is about the same for the Pro, and cheaper for the regular, and yet the switch is a much weaker console. Since you have to pay for internet, having both would also mean I would need to pay for 2 subscription services, which is not going to happen.

Any reason switch games are so expensive? They cost £60 on Amazon compared to the £40/45 of most new games.
-
The joy cons blow. Pay an extra $10 and get the pro controller! It's exactly like an Xbox one controller for the Nintendo!
-
1 ReplyIt's a bait and switch.

It has become a trend here, ingrained in the very roots of #gaming, to complain about anything remotely possible.
-
4 RepliesWho plays 4-player on PS4? Ew
-
because its weak as -blam!-

I think the price of the Switch is amazing. Are people complaining about it? That's dumb. Do they wan't a $100 console? LOL.
-
They don't want Nintendo to succeed. I for one fully support Nintendo.
-
I believe the switch actually launched with more games then both the PS4 and Xbone. Too lazy to look it up though.
-
1 ReplyGamers complain about anything that isnt free. They also dismiss anything that's inexpensive.
-
1 ReplyNintendo always sells there consoles so they make a little profit of the hardware itself, which is fine. However Sony and Microsoft sell theres for a little bit under, and make it up by taking a percentage of the game sales to cover it. Now why are switch games more expensive than xbox or sony's?

5 RepliesTake this from a guy who purchased a switch. You cannot call an individual joycon thing a controller, it is a terrible little thing made for infant baby hands. My hands are not small (not big either) and holding an individual one of those things is like trying to game on a 2009 flip phone. It's ridiculous. You should be using the price of individual pro controllers, which is 80$, more than a Dualshock 4, the best controller on the market (Inb4 Xbox people attack me). And another thing to remember is that the switch is packing significantly less power than a PS4 or Xbox One. That's the sacrifice of making the tablet the console.
-
Because you can get a full featured Ipad with better screen for the same price with more games. Apple is cancer tho so i wont buy that either

Edited by Sniper Monkey: 3/30/2017 3:45:03 AMWho the hell wants to use a Nintendo Switch? Almost no game devs support it, and if u need something to play while taking a crap, use ur phone.

16 RepliesEdited by Psychic Donuts: 3/27/2017 4:30:29 PMFor the same price I can get an Xbox One or PS4 with triple if not quadruple the power of the Switch. Two sets of those expensive ass little shits is not 4 controllers. That only applies to some games. Their accessories are also SUPER expensive.

Edited by puppyk1sses: 3/27/2017 3:06:42 PM2 joycons =/= 4 controllers unless you are have a combination of 4 of the following: midget, a kid, or maybe a girl. Also, if you actually look at the specs, PS4 is a waaaaaaaaaaaay more powerful piece of hardware than switch, so duh it's more expensive. It's also got a ton of third party support and is currently the juggernaut of the gaming world as far as consoles. Nintendo feels like they might be on their last breath as far as consoles go if this one flops again. And it might. I think a lot of us have been screwed by Nintendo one too many times and are rightfully skeptical. I personally am not even considering buying it unless they blow me away at their E3 show. And I definitely have the means to buy it, it just honestly feels like a terrible investment at this point.

Edited by Bake8935: 3/30/2017 3:35:28 AMJust answering based on the topic title: They expected it to be lower because it was rumored to be lower. Nintendo could've nipped it in the bud by announcing it earlier, but instead there were leaks that set an unfair expectation perhaps. I myself don't have much of an issue with the price. I think $250 would be better. That's what the Wii cost at launch. But $300 isn't too bad. The accessories are ridiculous though. $80 for a new pair of joycon is absurd. And NO ONE wants to play a game with just one joycon. That's terrible.

The only game worth a damn for the Switch is Zelda and the online subscription is total shit
-
2 RepliesDidn't care for bomberman. Fast RMX is fun Zelda is amazing, but boss battles are way to easy The hardest thing is some of the shrine puzzles.
-
599 USD
-
Because the PS4 is an actual console. The Switch is a handheld on steroids.
-
Why pay $300 to play skyrim?
-
Ps4 and xb1 had 100× the game library of the switch at launch

Edited by Vizard: 3/27/2017 4:13:53 PMIt's a PS3/ 360 level console with no games and let's not even talk about the stupid extra accessories.
