Vault Space Solutions/Ideas

Bungie has been showing off some incredible armor sets for this Age of Triumph, but I know like many of you out there, I simply do not have the space to fit another 3 sets (the two for my warlock and one for my hunter I plan on keeping). If you're anything like me, most players just kept the pieces with the best rolls instead of previous full sets, especially the year 1 stuff. So I've been obsessively thinking how else we could fit it without adding more vault space. I understand Bungie's explanation for not being able to add vault space, and I understand how raid kiosks don't work for armor concerning variation in perk rolls. Here's my proposal: Just make basic materials and consumables shared across characters like legendary marks are. If this means pushing things like keys to the "Missions" section and non-transferable, fine. To conserve slots, stacks could be increased, for instance don't see why we couldn't just have 999 spinmetal. I think most players currently keep a full stack on each character and donate the rest to factions anyhow. Ornaments, again, just make them shared across characters (Might have to do a tab-down page like our character page to fit the 36 slots), Between sharing mats/consumables/ornaments and moving some things to Missions, this would save us something like 25+ slots from general that could now be divided given over to vault armor space. (Since almost all weapons are used on all classes, armor is in a greater need of space since it's class-specific)

[/quote] Did they actually have an explanation? I missed that. What is it? I also have been feeling recently like: they have all of these geniuses coding over there- they really couldn't come up with some sort of solution? Like even as simple as more kiosks? Or it is a purposeful psychological approach to keep us grinding (deleting making us re-evaulate our gear, reinforcing our mental image of gear value, enhancing our hunger to get the 'better' gear to replace it)? If presumably there is a technical limitation preventing any vault space increase. As people have pointed out- if this is a loot grinder game, then limiting collectible space is a serious design flaw. If they are going to use the word "loot" and "rewards" in their streams- what, we "earn" these rewards just to dismantle them because of lack of storage space? Don't call it loot and rewards- call it temporary disposable gifts.

    • Letting us recover weapons and sparrow armor WITH Ornaments that we have applied would let us feel safer about temporarily deleting items to recover space. Also, making ALL shaders cross character (raid ones we earn) instead of making us transfer them through vault would also make general vault space less necessary, so more could be given to weapons/armor. making emblem kiosk available directly from the character screen (Even if it was strictly only available in orbit/social spaces) and doing away with carrying them as items would even further decrease the need for general space. How many Ideas do we need to throw at the devs for one to stick?

    • Sidenote - Adept raid weapons. Everyone in my playgroup has pointed out how dumb it is that while we're already hurting for vault space that we're going to want to re-collect our old primaries AND their exotic counterparts. How come you guys didn't just give them an elemental perk tree like Murmur had, and have it toggle the exotic status??? Again, I don't know the back-end that you guys have to work within, but these feel like some simple, elegant solutions that should have been explored.

    • Maybe there are some technical reasons that make my suggestion more difficult than I feel like it is, as I've only done some rough math to count mats/consumable types, but ultimately it does reduce the number of item slots across the whole account, and should even reduce the amount of transfers coming across the API from various apps/tools,, so my impressions are that this ultimately means better performance for vault interactions in the long run too. Please guys, don't write this off. this would be a huge homerun for the community, and players would praise you for making more space for all the cool new stuff!.
