This warlock needs some advice
I used to play this game a lot and I was good back then, then got bored and deleted it. Now redownloaded and purchased the newest dlc. When I quit I was maxed at 310 light but now I guess the cap is 400. My question is what do I do now? What should I grind to get my level up quickly to be able to experience this new raid. Also any info on what armor/weapons I should be using or looking for now would be appreciated

Most rewards are light level dependent. So you will almost always be guaranteed something of your level or higher. Although blue engrams give max 365...purple max 385....everything else gives up to 400 IF I am not mistaken. Don't quote me on it though.

Heroic strikes are definitely the way to go, as soon as you're high enough level just run a bunch of those to get you up to 385. Then run Wrath on normal mode to learn the mechanics and then you can get to Wrath Heroic. Also pick up the weekly bounties from Zavala, they are guaranteed to drop armor and weapons that are higher light than you currently are and the sunrise bounty has a chance of dropping a Y3 Icebreaker. Also make sure you pick up an Eirene RR4 from Banshee when he sells it and check the rolls every Wednesday, it's the most surefire way to get a god rolled sniper.

The wrath of the machine Raid is fine, if anything is good for leveling up light. I recommend unlocking the plaguelands patrol and farming the ever living shit it of archons forge, it can get you up to 388. Other things you should do are weekly savala bounties and Shiro quests, the gear from the reputation ranking up factions can bring you to 390. Good luck.

don't do the new raid it sucks, wait a few days for age of triumph and do the old raids.

Finish the quests Do strikes, then heroic strikes Do nightfall, use skeleton keys and three of coins. You can get a ghost from Archons forge. Crucible will drop stuff up to 400, at very random intervals. Get the bounties from Shaxx and Shiro, and rank up vanguard, crucible and your faction to get more options on gear and weapons. (Drops up to 390)
