Bungie made elemental shields, and elemental legendary primaries (ELP) a raid exclusive to give raiders better reasons to grind raids. Those guns had no practical use elsewhere. Most legendary primaries have better stats. Each weapon has many percs, their permutation renders each variation a New Gun. Add that to each weapon and you have thousands of guns. Removing ELP removed less than 6 weapons from a pool of thousands of guns. Bungie saying the removal of ELP added 'variety' is just playing to a hopefully naive audience. Judging from some of the responses here, they are right! TLDR: to some here, Bungie could 'sell Sand to you if you were Saharan', and you would buy! Without independent thought, you wouldn't be capable of understanding when you were played. And: You were played!

 • From HoW through TTK and ROI, there were no Legendary Elemental Primaries. The game continued without pause, and you 'think' I'm making a joke! How is your share of sand?

 •
From HoW through TTK and ROI, there were no Legendary Elemental Primaries.
HoW had etheric light which allowed us to level up our elemental raid weapons, so HoW did have elemental primaries. If you think that elemental primaries had no use outside of raids then yes, you are joking.

 • Sorry, you were able to raise your light by 10. That is not a Legendary Elemental Primary in House of Wolves, it's an upgrade perc! They were the same guns only obtained by doing VoG and Crota. None were obtained by doing anything in HoW release! And, because you can use a gun does not make it 'practical'. They were designed for the raids. They all had Oracle Disruptor or Crota specific percs. Their burn was tho only thing they added to existing legendaries. Without those burns, and still today, they are outclassed. I had every one of those guns. I replaced them before they were extinct with better choices. Those 6 guns did not ruin variety! Bungie did. You simply will defend them regardless. I respect that, but, I never bought their 'diversity' bullshit line.

 • I'm aware that my post was about the reason ELP were dropped from raids, Skolas was not a raid so it does not apply to him. But, thanks for pointing out Skolas dropped ELP also.

 • So the fact that they had some of the best rolls in game at the time, solid stats, and could shred shields only made them practical in the raid? Not in nightfalls or strikes where enemies had shields and were generally tougher. I'm simply stating that there was a reason people used these guns everywhere because they had a practical use, they made killing things easier.

 • They did make killing things easier. They were useful. They had good percs. Time alone proved they were not the thing ruining diversity. Time itself proved their removal had no impact on what folk used, Bungie did. I'm not in complete disagreement with you on certain points, they are valid. I believe their removal was a farce. They were removed for this rewash. They always knew they would get some revival by flashing their names again. In practical sense, they and their legacy are gone. Reintroduced as exotics or whatever dress they want to brandish will not return that mystique. That has been lost. Will not be recovered. I, for one, no longer collect anything. As a rule, the moment I like it, sharded! As for this new 'pretty coloring book', I'm not interested. Don't do sand, got my own supply...

 • The presence of elemental damage only mattered against shields. Without element, those weapons had no advantage, had mediocre percs and were bettered by everything else. That's the reason they had no role in PVP, and that constituted >50% of the entire Destiny game. So, yes, no practical usage outside the raids!
