The Gear Manager does have some sorting options that can group your vault (doesn't sort what is on characters). Not the greatest list, but it helps. Sort by Type and it somewhat groups them a bit better (scouts, pulse, etc. for the most part get grouped together...occasionally misses a few here and there). The sort option is all the way over in the upper right-hand corner of the upper frame.
If you sort in the right order, you can kind of get them grouped up to compare them better. Sort rarity then type, and each group will have all the exotics grouped together in their respective category. Same with light...if you have some still not at 400, you can group those together first so they get lumped in together.

Edited by wardog8u2: 3/12/2017 6:26:12 PMthat is good but I am looking at comparing weapon stats by archetype, I have scout rifles that have: Rate of fire / Impact 37 / 48 27 / 61 52 / 35 42 / 38 52 / 37 37 / 49 now I want to just see all my 27 rof 61 impact scouts, how do I group just that archetype together??

yeah... it falls a little short on the sorting options. I have several with the same impact/RoF profiles too. Had them set up with different range/stability and such so I can just swap a weapon out when needed instead of trying to go through the extra delay of changing perks. Did the same thing with my HC's and Auto's too. Gets to be a bit of a pain when you are trying to flip things around in PvP tough. Another reason why I don't bother much anymore. PvE is mostly just one build now, and except for trying to give HC's a shot now and then, I don't change up that build much anymore either. But I am afraid to just let go of the other options, in case Bungie f*cks things up again and I need to start using something new. Sometimes I'll change the drop-box filters on the top bar to just show my legendary Primaries. Cuts out a good bit of the clutter so I can find what I want faster. Far from perfect by any means...gotta work with what they gave us though.
