Level 25 Spark of light
So i just bought destiny and the taken king expansion for my Xbox one, bear in mind Ive never gamed on a console. Nore played destiny. I got the game and expansion at a CM games location for $20 sealed. It came with a level 25 spark of light. My current only character is level 12. I had the Spark of light in my mailbox as it stated it would be, picked it up on my character and went to click to use it. Nothing. I made sure downloaded all the bits and such, updates ect. Shut down my XB1, unplugged it for 20 minutes, all the other troubleshooting steps I could find via an hours of google searching. Still not working. So I un-installed destiny, all the bits and updates, expansions ect. Rebooted the XB1 and still can not use the Spark of light. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Flashing red is usually a restriction - like trying to discard something you're not allowed to discard. Just to clarify, the Spark is showing on your character, in it's personal inventory - correct? You are not trying to activate it while in the vault or in the postmaster screen? Can you provide a video of this happening? You will have to post it somewhere like YouTube and then link it here, but if you can get a video, we may be able to see something you are missing.

Xbox cache wipe, power cycled twice without power for 20 minutes each time, reinstalled. No go as of 7am est this morning. I even tried putting it in my vault, completely logging out, powering the Xbox down completely, removing the power cord, then retrieving it from the vault, and pressing x, holding x. Lol. In the tower, in the space screen, on the moon, earth, Venus. Lol

Edited by ADragonWithin: 3/10/2017 2:55:30 PMJust to make absolutely positively completely sure, you are in the Tower, and you are using the correct 'use button' as stated on the tooltip for use, correct? It's not A, it's X (normally the Dismantle button, but for consumable use items, it's use). If you are using the correct button, please see if you can use one of the glimmer items, such as an Ether Seed. If that, also cannot be used, it seems like your controller's button configuration may be different and you'll need to go to the controller settings page in your system settings and reset them to default.

If the spark does not work it is not a big thing. Here is why I think the sparks (both the TTK 25 and the RoI 40) are just gimmicks that limit your time playing Destiny. 1. The spark boosts your level to 25 or 40 but that is it nothing else. 2. Getting to level 25 or 40 is easy all you need to do is play the game, complete the quests and do the daily/weekly missions. 3.As I said the spark levels you up but leaves your character unable to do anything (no perks, jumps, grenades or suppers and no 3rd sub-class). To unlock what your character can do you need exp and that is from playing the game. 4. Certain activities need to be unlocked for you to play them and the spark has nothing to do with that. Strikes, Raids even the 3rd sub-class all need to be found and unlocked in game. And the big one.... 5. Character lv is nothing the big thing is your light level which is from your kit and that is only dicked up in game not as a hidden bonus from the spark. So play the game and enjoy the journey and meet new people. As a wise man said "Sometimes the journey is more important than the destination".
