I personally don't mind that the characters are being left behind. It will make D2 feel more like a new game then an expansion.

Why does it have to feel like a new game?? It's not, really. It's the same franchise, right? It will continue the story? Most likely.
-
The response explains the decline in players. Bungie cannot answer a simple question: did you lie, or were you misleading. That is a Yes or No, not a speech on the merits of Destiny 2!
-
I agree with you, D2 must be able to stand up alone, otherwise it will fall behind the other new releases. Sometimes I think some people just want to bag Bungie, they just pick everything to bits.
-
7 RepliesThey appear to be going the route of the Mass Effect series. Your Shepard carried forward through all 3 games but only in appearance and records of decisions you made. All gear and levels were reset with each game
-
9 RepliesI do feel a bond with my warlock. It's been the same character since I started. But when D2 is out I'm starting fresh. New game, new look. I can't help but notice that Bungie has never answered directly as to why anything from Eververse will not be transferring over. Obviously it's a new game but it feels like anyone who spent money on microtransactions is getting screwed. What they should of done was simply say Hey Guys its a different game so nothing can be transferred. Not tease us by saying Your character can come on over but anything they've learned will be forgotten.
-
My Warlock will carry across. I'm happy.
-
While I won't lie, I am somewhat disappointed that at very least our emblems - specifically those that are account based - are not carrying forward. Outside of that - I'm all for a complete fresh start with new characters. I've enjoyed the time that I've spent playing Destiny, but it wasn't because of my characters. I've enjoyed the game because of the experiences that I have had - both the good and the bad and it didn't matter if it was on my Hunter or my Warlock or Titan.
-
As long as my k/d doesn't transfer over. Sheesh, eww, not good.

Edited by hunting the void: 3/13/2017 4:22:48 PMMy guardians are revived zombie flesh that I have absolutely no f's given about. Guardians are revolting abominations that honestly should scare the living chit out of everyone. After the darkness is turned away there should be a war to rid the world of guardians. If I decide to buy d2 I'll create new zombie abominations so they can be nerfed a few months later.

What utter bullshit and nonsense ... And what is this Deej , "destiny had always been about the new new "?!! That is the most backward, political doublespeak , corporate jargon -blam!-ery I have ever heard from you people and I have heard alot from you . Our characters are not , I repeat NOT memorable , nor are they relatable , they don't talk since vanilla ( even then the sole moment of even remote emotion was mocking dinklebot and calling him "little light" ...) , they don't really even show that much reaction or betray any emotion to what's going on around them , just there taking up space . My character from FFXIV has more character than my guardians , and she doesn't even talk much or have actual dialogue ,which btw see in this case Bungie it's excusable due to the number of races plus opposite sexes of said races in the game , so how was it that hard given the limited possible characters to make to have them speak occasionally? But like I was saying , she may have never talked but my warrior of light showed actual things approaching feelings , things like happiness , joy , fear , anger , sorrow , and relief...If you had managed to generate any of that I might have felt differently about having this so called option , which feels like a half baked gesture on your part. I understand this had to done , wiping the slate clean , the current game engine is an abomination of epic proportions, but the way you presented it is insulting to us , your player base and customers , some of which myself included , have defended you and this game since the beta, were I you I'd seriously rethink how you communicate to us , and end this absurd notion that we enjoy you keeping us in suspense , cause all it does is anger people . So tell people stuff Bungie, give us information , I understand why armor and weapons won't go over , but shaders , emblems and emotes ? Is it because you just don't want to do it or will 2 not have these features ? So Ive spoken my thoughts on this , and I'm still planning on buying destiny 2 , but it speaks volumes that I'm more enthusiastic about the new FFXIV expansion Stormblood and other games closer on the horizon than destiny 2 ...

4 RepliesEdited by Zero the Remnant: 3/11/2017 8:56:01 AMI don't see why we get to carry over the husks we call characters. We had no way to possibly bond with them. Honestly the only folks who have a bond are the RPers and folks who made up their own story for their Guardian. Gamewise we spend more time in First person, in our helmets, we never hear our voice (I think we speak in 2 or 3 cutscenes), never got to choose our dialogue, never got to see our Guardian get scared/mad/sad/in pain, & etc. Our Ghosts did 99% of the talking, if anything Destiny is our Ghost's story & we are it's sidekick/partner (the side character). Our Ghost should actually carry over at this point. The reason folks are upset over losing thier gear is because of this. Destiny failed in making people connect to their character. The lack of a character recreation/editor also added to this, as many folks made a character then got in game to see the character wasn't up to snuff/looked slightly different/not as intended & had no way to edit them without undoing all their hard earned/worked time & effort. Bungie needs to swallow its pride & admit they dropped the ball on this, alongside admitting other things.

9 RepliesBungie has earned zero trust and credibility with me Latest lie on Vault Space: Direct quote by Senior Producer Scott Taylor on the lead up to ROI launch regarding vault space: “Not on day one.” Continuing, he adds, “If I open my phone right now, we’re working on solutions that make that a good experience… We’re working on it. Not only did they not give use more vault space, they allocated development resources for creating a kiosk to facilitate silver dust and ornaments microtransactions as well as a holiday kiosk for the same reason. Meanwhile, we get all these consumables through microtransactions and Bungie PURPOSELY gives us no quick way to discard them to conserve vault space. You know why? Because they want us to use them so that people will see us in the tower to help promote microtransactions for them. Older lies: Auto Rifle buff (0.04%) We're not using SBMM We're not using SBMM We're not using SBMM We're not using SBMM Ok, we're using SBMM We're fixing SBMM We're fixing SBMM We're fixing SBMM We're fixing SBMM Comitatus is not bugged Damage Referee Mercy Rule We know you value your gear, you'll be able to take them forward We're fixing SBMM We're banning people Bungie lies that will make you laugh: Playable terrain (check at the 2 mins mark): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BTfhrONAp-c Checking the playable terrain: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9YoJjdEBv8

7 RepliesThat's exactly what I hoped would happen :) If our characters kept all of our previously earned gear, that would mean that the gear would also be in Destiny 2. I personally want Destiny 2 to be a fresh start with new weapons, subclasses, elements, enemy types, story characters, npcs, and lots more.
-
I agree with you. I'll enjoy starting over and it should feel like a new game!
-
Hell, its not like we wouldn't be using the new gear anyway.
-
5 RepliesDestiny needs a fresh start. Destiny was supposed to be a significantly different game than what we got, I would argue that they still made it work; but it wasn't what they intended for it to be. I'm excited at the idea of Destiny 2 being what they originally wanted for Destiny's original launch. I'm happy I can keep my characters, I hope I can keep my hard earned emblems and shaders, and I'm just looking forward to it all.
-
I stopped reading after 'Destiny has always been about the new new' lmfao. Destiny has never been about new anything. Everything in this goddamn game is a reskin of a reskin, it's just like CoD. Hell, they even reskined a game mode lol. What complete bullshit.
-
3 RepliesThe characters have no... character. I don't give a sh!t about any of my guardians, and have deleted several to make others as well. They are just placeholders. The gear is what was exciting/endearing (at least in Y1). I don't care anymore that all of our stuff isn't carrying over. We've been fvcked by Bungie for 3 years when it comes to playing the game the way we want. Why should this be any different?
-
Character transferring over is actually kind of punishment for a lot of people unless they let us redo their features lol.
-
9 RepliesIt's not like it's a common thing to have literally wver thing carry over from one game in a series to the next...like honestly wtf are people crying about? And why would you want to be using the same weapons for four years anyway? Jesus people just shut up for once.
-
Edited by Resurrection101: 3/11/2017 1:57:48 AMIm understand why they did it. I'm only disappointed because i thought it would be a 10 year game similar to how warcraft was a 10 year game that had expansions that continually updated the experience. And pushed up the lvl/LL I thought that i could invest in this character for the next decade. Not 3 years
-
I won't buy destiny 2 if it is P2P. Nuff' said
-
44 RepliesCynical to my core, I never expected Bungie to keep the promise of progressing our Guardians through 10 years of Destiny. What Bungie isn't telling you is that they -blam!-ed up. Destiny didn't meet sales or retention expectations. They need a do-over and that's what Destiny 2 will be. It's as we joked during Year 1, Destiny 1 is a beta and we are the beta testers.
-
I'll only be happy if they have Regional Dedicated Host Servers for ALL ACTIVITY (i.e. patrol, campaign, Crucible, IB, ToO, SLR, Strikes and Raids) in Destiny 2.0. Otherwise, my Guardians journey ends with Destiny 1. I will not put up with this 2008ish Halo Era Peer to Peer one console as host crap in Destiny 2, if that's what they offer, I won't buy Destiny 2. And I urge others to make sure BungleVison knows this is a condition of other people buying the game too. NO Regional Dedicated Host Servers for ALL ACTIVITY == No Sale of Destiny 2
-
No dedicated servers equals no purchase of D2 from me. I have no trust nor respect for Bungie at this point.
-
9 RepliesThis is a non-issue. Just something for the internet to bitch about. Can anybody name a single game where you got to keep all your shit from the original when the sequel came out? Even ME hit the reset button.
