Ghost Fragment: Vex 5

Could somebody give me a second opinion on the meaning of this lore?

What's your specific question? Vex 5 is journal entries by Maya to her lover Chioma. After earlier research, Maya went on to another project. They develop the device (later to be named the vision machine when it was rediscovered by the FWC, who continue to put journal entries in the same format as Maya started). The device is revealed to be an intelligence asset, used under the supervision of a warmind to view alternate timelines. The device proves harmful to humans who enter it, and Maya decides to stop participating in the research. The notable parts of this card as far as lore as I see it: - it's purpose is intelligence. Warminds, aka Rasputin was using the device and appears to have discovered that something bad was coming, thus the Exodus project. Link to post on exodus: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/215764896/0/0 - it implies that something other than human minds are required. Since this research was critical to humanities future, it is plausible that the need for machine intelligence to survive the device in a human form necessitated the creation of Exos. Rasputin may have originally created exos to advance this research then later adapted them to war machines to fight the threat he saw coming via this device. Even if exos already existed at this point, either way, exos are necessary to fully use the device which is likely why Lakshmi-2 is the FWC leader - Maya's last entry is considered to be the basis for the namesake of the FWC.

Lmao serendipity. The chapter I posted above in the lore feed is about exactly that (at least in a story perspective)

As an Xbox player I had to look this one up - it's a good-sized one! Near as I can tell, it's early days of the machine that FWC now uses. The machine somehow crawls the multiverse... but beyond that, I'm clueless. It's definitely done through the perspective of the entity in the machine. Kinda like how in Star Trek or any Dan Simmons novel they're not actually teleporting, just pulling in the closest copy from the multiverse. Definitely a case of humans co-opting Vex tech, but with no idea of its true purpose. Like a caveman finding a motorized leaf blower and saying yes, this is very clearly designed to propel my boat over water.

Complete and total opinion, please correct if I'm way off
I think each chasm is a different copy of themselves that Maya, Chioma, Duane and Shim sent through the Vex Network to explore. Edit: *Or* a different attempt to send them through after something went horribly wrong. Hard to pin down. I think of more possibilities each time i read it
