I was re-watching the Halo CE developer commentary (with Jason Jones, Joseph Staten, and Marty O'Donell) from the Halo 3 legendary edition disc, and they mentioned one of the original plans for Halo CE.
The one where Cortana went mad with power and wanted to take over the universe with the Halos. "The story was too good" they said. Sarcasm or not, this would have been interesting.
Now Halo 5 had a similar aspect to that, however it was executed not as well as it could have been, and mostly everything was explained within the outside lore, which left many of us confused.

If you payed attention while playing the campaign, everything that you needed to know to understand the story and what was going on was there. Playing halo 4 campaign before 5 also helped. Was the story as good as it could have been, maybe, maybe not. But was it difficult to understand without reading the books, absolutely not.

I really wish Halo 5 continued the story that was set up with Hunt the Truth.

11 RepliesHalo 5 was originally intended to have a different direction what we got was cobbled together at the last second to meet a deadline. Just a coincidence that it coincided with the Cortana letters.
