Horizon: Zero Dawn real life locations (Poss spoilers)

This may have been covered by the devs pre release, so sorry if this is old news, but I wasn't aware and found it interesting so I'm making a post. Whilst traveling around the Sacred Lands I came across a vantage point giving me a view to the past. As soon as the window opened I knew I knew that building: the Air Force academy chapel in Colorado Springs. Later on, during the "Revenge of the Nora" quest I came across another vantage, revealing that "The Ring of Metal" was in fact Denver Stadium. Living in the U.K. I have very little knowledge of American geography (I only recognised the chapel from C&C:RA2, but it's pretty distinctive). A brief check on google maps showed me that these two towns are in fact geographically coherent to their locations in HZD, if massively scaled down. This has led me to the conclusion that: Devils Thirst is Colorado Springs Devils Grief is Denver The Embrace is near the ruins of Pueblo Meridian is north west of Cañon City The Ancient Armoury must be Cheyenne Mountain home of Americas nuclear defence (NORAD) and the Stargate program. I've yet to actually make it to Meridian, so I can't pinpoint the locations of other Caja settlements, or the location of the Osram homeland, but I think I've made good progress. The most interesting thing though, is that ingame North is real world West. Is this just coincidence, or did the Earths poles flip, as scientists have been warning against for decades? Did the pole flip cause the end of civilisation, or was it just one of many causes (climate change, an increase in corporate power and an over reliance on machines are all hinted at in the files and documents scattered around the world)? Thoughts? Feelings? Do any of you hail from the Sacred Lands, The Sundom or The Claim? Post a reply and let me know!

I read this on Reddit, so I'm not sure if it's true or not, also MASSIVE SPOILERS if you haven't gone past Meridian,
but someone there said they found a data pad that suggests massive geographical changes occured during the Faro Plague which could explain why we see references to Salt Lake City and Bryce when the game clearly takes place in Colorado and those cities are roughly eight hours away from the major locations in HZD. Additionally this could explain why the directions are reversed as the OP mentions.
• Haven't gotten to the places you are talking about, but literally just cleared a corruption zone. It had a cache that said it was an old theater, I turned around and it was dead on Red Rocks Amphitheater. Which is Morrison Colorado, right outside of Denver.

I read a data pad in a ruined building and it mentioned Salt Lake City.

          • U.S. Stargate Program was run out of Fort Meade. Can't tell you how I know that. On the TV show, Stargate was ran out of NORAD.
