  • There's nothing in lore to indicate any part of his life minics the god's.

An outcast to those who know him, sent into a world of death and separation from light, offering a way to transition from one world to the next, inspiring cult followers that seek to learn the ways of this transition so that they may live on when they too become separated from the light, trials that decide the fate of all who enter that offers rewards for living a flawless life and death to those that fail, planning to return to the living world once more and planting seeds until the day he does... Everything I've seen points to his character sharing quite a lot of aspects of the myth from which he gets his name.

  • I'll admit I may have mispoke about having no similarities, but he's still not the same entity. The god and the warlock may have some legitimate things in common, but they also contrast in many different ways as well. The fact that they're different characters entirely makes god Osiris' mythos very little proof of anything regarding Warlock Osiris and how he came to be.

  • By now, I'm hoping that you saw the original post as the joking jab that it is. But yes, they are separate entities. If they weren't, it'd be extremely poor writing. Osiris in destiny is a character influenced by the original myth in a significant way, but adapted to fit the narrative of destiny. As it should be in this situation. I wish there was more expansion into this character because of his potential. An open end with unclear history or motivations just doesn't do justice. Egyptian gods aren't an uncommon basis for which storys or characters have been written, but the use of Osiris (even though he has one of the most commonly recognized images in our knowledge of Egyptian culture) isn't a common choice. His nature and origin are unusual when compared to other gods of Egypt and other cultures. To be born into one world, lose connection and fall into another, then become ruler of the second realm while living on in a state that doesn't belong in either isn't your standard story. And having the Osiris of destiny loosely follow this concept can be made into so much more than what is currently offered. The idea of a necessary evil that remains loyal to your fight while constantly tempting you to turn your back on the last city could make for an ally that pushes the boundaries for what we expect in a video game character, especially if it's a choice that we could make for ourselves in-game.

  • One of the most factual burns I've seen on these forums. Good stuff man.
