Doesn't work. I'm in Aus and have been havng the same experience as the OP since the patch.

I don't have a great connection. That's the thing with P2P connections like Destiny, distance is a bigger factor than connection speed. You can have a 100 Mbps connection but if you're matched with players from the other side of the world you have lag. If I get matched with other Aus or NZ players I don't have too much of a problem. It's the US or European players that cause me problems and I would assume that they have the same problems on their end with Aus or NZ players. The drop off in players recently is probably what has caused the perceived increase in lag.
