KMT is no longer the sole ruling party. The ROC is an actual democracy...

The KMT hardliners, however, are essentially the only ones who still adhere to the idea that the ROC is the "true" China. Most people here acknowledge China as China and Taiwan as Taiwan, it's own entity. Ask most what country they're from and they'll respond "Taiwan" not "The Republic of China".
