Yeah, I tried using Thorn in Crucible today with the 2.5.0.2 update. I wanted to give it a few fair go's before reporting but, it is still terrible and unmenacing. It takes 4 shots minimum (unless 2 of 3 are headshots) given its archetype. Last word is successful because of Fan Fire and extra precision damage for hip fire. Mark of the Devourer as Thorn's exotic perk was reduced in effect extensively to the point there's almost no point it exists, so now it is not even on par with damage output of the Exotic opposite it in year one (TLW is still kinda broken yet still fair, but not the point) when it came to being.
TL;DR Mark of the Devourer needs a slight buff. Not to Year 1, perhaps, but it needs one if you're going to reintroduce it year 3 as this great thing.

Edited by Backlum Chaam: 2/25/2017 10:21:24 AMYeah, leave it as it is. Can't have anything unique in the world of destiny anymore. Too many ppl bitch n cry. We like bland, monotonous game play in this community. Actually, let me clarify. Unique to the point of being useful. The "uniqueness" of Thorns perk is pointless.

No the last thing we need is a year one thorn

1 ReplyJust make it how it was pre-april update. Problem solved

Thorn has well and truly had its time in the sun. Time to move onto greener pastures.
-
Thorn was the most balanced before they nerfed it for rise of iron
-
They got rid of bonus crit damage a long time ago I thought on the last word
-
Thorn doesn't need buffed.
-
- TLW doesn't get bonus precision damage when hip firing - Every HC in the game will kill with 2 headshots and a bodyshot
-
That's what happens when players ask for nerfs. Weapons are made useless. Be careful what you wish for. Of course, most of the Nerf Brigade are always calling for nerfs to gear they don't like or use. How thoughtful of them, huh?

2 RepliesIt doesn't "suck", it just isn't as strong as a lot of people think it should be. The burn damage basically is nothing now, especially if opponents are using the burn artifact. It's the difficulty factor that is the issue now, with falloff you'll often need two headshots to kill fast, unlike Eyasluna which is 1 head 2 body. I'd suggest only two changes to make this gun really strong again: -Burn damage at 3 per tick instead of 2 (will help the gun perform better against 9+ armor opponents) - Increase base range by 10.
-
I'd rather buff the range. The rest is fine.
-
you can 1 head 2 body if the opponent isn't using the reduce DoT artifact (forgot the name) which gives it a faster crit ttk that tlw's non crit ttk.
-
TLW doesn't have extra precision damage while hip firing. Also, Thorn is fine damage wise. It fits within the 4 shot kill archetype. Leave it be.
-
Thorn fits fine within the low-impact archetype. It's perks are average for that handcannon class and it has a unique perk that provides a decent function. It's fine. It doesn't need to be upgraded. Don't forget that the Last Word also has increased fire-rate as well, so it's pretty much impossible to compare anything to it due to it having completely unique stats.

I would like to see thorn back to its glory. If you have year one thorn
-
Needs a bit more range.

2 RepliesEdited by draycole: 2/25/2017 12:29:17 PMIf hand canons just required headshots then we wouldn't need accuracy bloom and are you guys aware thorn has the fastest time to kill amonsgt hand canons?
-
They won't buff it again because if it becomes a problem they will have a riot on their hands. It's usable and that's about the best you are going to get I'm afraid.
-
Thorn needs more range. Just like Hawkmoon, it needs more range. If they don't get their base range buffed (previous nerfs to their base range to be reversed) they will continue sucking.
