Red Death became a 14 Impact (medium) Pulse Rifle waaaayyy before TTK, it actually happened before The Dark Below in this patch here [url]https://www.bungie.net/en/News/Article/12433/7_Destiny-Update---12012014[/url]. The rate fire was increased and the impact decreased, however, a bug occurred that displayed the impact incorrectly following the change. More importantly it had no weighting in game, just a mere visual error on the stat bar.
[i][b]During the glory days of Red Death following the "Great Pulse Rifle buff of 2015" it was a medium impact Pulse Rifle[/b][/i], an archetype which could also two-burst, like the iconic 55A-Allfate. Red Death was even more reliable to two-burst kills thanks to [b]Aggressive Ballistics[/b].
The visual bug as mentioned in paragraph one was corrected in the TTK pre-update here [u]https://www.bungie.net/en/News/Article/13474/7_Destiny-Update---09082015[/u]. The 14 Impact medium archetype also received a 2.5% damage nerf meaning it could not two-burst reliably post-TTK. The final nail in the coffin was when it received that 8% damage nerf in the SRL patch.
