I must be the most casual casual in Destiny.
There's quite a lot I've never done in Destiny.
Haven't run WOTM.
Didn't do Kings Fall on hard mode.
Never been to the lighthouse.
Haven't got the dark spindle or sleeper simulant. Not got the exotic Khvostov. Never got the Jade Rabbit from an engram.
I've never beaten Skolas.
I've run a lot of strikes, done thousands of bounties, run hundreds of patrols and occasionally dip my toe in the PvP battleground of iron banner. And I'm a regular visitor to Archons Forge.
And people will tell me I lack ambition. That I'm not playing the game right. That I'm missing out.
Perhaps I am.
But when I've had a tough day at work I just want to shoot some stuff, run around, see if an engram drops but basically just chill.
I can't find the right clan to do the end game stuff although I have tried so I'm just taking things casual.
And if I'm having some fun and the games still keeping me interested, isn't that enough ?

5 RepliesI may have ya beat in terms of casualness, EoS. - No Vault of Glass - No Crota's End - No King's Fall - No Wrath of the Machine - No original Prison of Elders above Level 32 - Never set foot in Trials of Osiris, much less reached the Lighthouse - Almost never set foot in the Crucible other than Iron Banner - Never had an elemental primary weapon (until Zhalo Supercell) - No Black Spindle (tried soloing the mission maybe 20 times, never came close) - No exotic swords - Only record book completed is the most recent one for The Dawning, which was pretty simple Like you, I enjoy running strikes, doing bounties and generally shooting bad guys in the face after a long day on the job. I played a lot of Archon's Forge when I still needed high-light artifacts and class items, but haven't done AF for a while now. Had a couple of Nightfall strike buddies in year one, but they're long gone from Destiny. I enjoyed soloing Challenge of Elders back when the light cap was 335 and CoE gave useful loot. I still enjoy soloing Nighfalls, despite the demise of the Nightfall modifier and the flaming head. For whatever it's worth, yes, I agree that it's enough if you're having fun and still find the game interesting. For all the flaws and Bungie's unethical business practices, they've undeniably made a shooter that's loads of fun to play. :)

But, you also have to think of this: As a casual, I've never broken a controller, worried about my kd, worried about what people think of me, never rage quit, worried about getting a certain weapon, or piece of gear, raged at Bungie because I don't get a certain item to drop, raged at someone because of how they play crucible, or used a certain weapon, and have never raged at Bungie for the changes they make (even if I disagree with said changes). I'm a pretty laid back person, so I pretty much stay calm when I play. If this game ever got boring, or I got to the point of raging, I would just quit playing it. No videogame is worth that much rage or dislike. I spent 10 years in the Army, and I know what true rage is. The people that rage over videogames need to either grow up, or put their rage in check.

1 Replyhave done Crota, VoG and Kf on normal... none of them on hard... and the last raid never even tried... never tried ToO... i love IB however... after a shitty day at work i've found very relaxing and funny playing mayhem games on PVP . also lack some exotics.. tried all 3 classes... but the one i used the most is my Titan... i am on PS4 btw.

1 ReplyI might be your X-Box equivalent. 3 years in and I'm still only playing as a Titan. Don't often do Crucible, have never done IB or ToO, only done SRL last year. Not done any of the Raids. Do have Khvostov and Sleeper Simulant though. Like most others, I too just like to shoot stuff to help relax and unwind after work. Good to know there's a lot of players out there that still see Destiny as what they want it to be, whether it's just for a casual blast to relax, or to get elusive end gear stuff from raids. One day, I suppose I'll turn my Eidolon Ally into Necrochasm.

1 ReplyBuddy, you are not a casual Destiny player... You are not even trying... :-) Yes, having a good and reliable pool of friends makes a world of difference. It took me a while in year one to start doing NF and Raids. Little by little I assembled a good pool of friends. It is a pity that nowadays getting a hold of them is tough, since all are playing other games most of the time or taking a break. My favorite moments in Destiny are from team activities. The exchange and fun have no comparison. I recommend you find and join a Clan. I've come across some "tough cookie" players so I tend to stick to my friends list. Once in a while I open opportunity to new folks to "test the waters". Most of Destiny players are nice but I've come across very undesirable nasty folks. Good luck and go for the many missions/adventures you still have pending on the game.

1 ReplyI have a friend who's never done the story, done about 6 strikes ever, never even entered a raid apart from when I tried to solo crota's end with him in my backpack so he could get the trophy and all he really does is pretend he's playing CoD in pvp and after spending a couple days there he's managed to maintain a solid .7 kd and he also spends hours in streams trying to find someone to carry him flawless but he's only ever been carried to seven once. Now thats casual.

1 ReplyTrust me you can have plenty of fun and still do all the things you haven't(desides the lighthouse,that is never fun). I just chill and kill like you,you can check most of my time spent on Destiny has been in patrol and coming close to 600,000 kills in patrol and over 1,000,000 kills total in Destiny.

3 RepliesI'm a casual too in the sense that I play to pass time, normally after work once the family is all tucked in to bed. I enjoy patrols , strikes, even the crucible ( in its currently and previous states). I enjoy it all really. I haven't participated in trials, nor completed any raids with one exception being VoG, but only from Atheon for the NTTExplain quest. And although I would like to finish a raid, I don't find it necessary as I enjoy the things I do sufficiently.

I've been around since launch and I haven't done VoG or Crota more than a couple of times, haven't done KF on hard, haven't done WotM(I helped be a meat shield at one part for 5 minutes one time, that's it), never made it past 4 wins on a trials card, pretty mediocre in general pvp. But, I keep in mind that the core reason I play this game is to have fun and escape the monotony of work and whatnot. If you can play the game and you're still having fun, that's all that matters

1 ReplyI run a clan that is focused on the casual players. We have gotten many people addicted to raids who had no previous experience. At the moment we are not as active due to lack of new content, however we do still have active players. I would like to invite anyone interested in having a clan going into Destiny 2 to visit our site and request to join. The normal copy paste info will be below. Thanks and hopefully we can makes some friends together in the future. We are a clan looking for mature (21+ plz) and chill PS4 players who are mostly interested in PVE. While we are starting to try to improve at, and participate more in PVP that is not our main focus. Our group started on day 1 as a group of friends, and has grown over time by adding like minded people. We like to get things done, but only if we are having fun and joking around. Games are not meant to be super serious. Once TTK launched we were big enough that we decided to create a clan and actively search out more players who could become friends. We have multiple raid sign ups every week, and are very happy to teach anyone who wants to learn. No one starts out knowing how to beat the raid, we all had to learn. 1 Reply- No Lighthouse - No PvP matches - Never ran Crota Raid - Never ran Oryx Raid - Never ran WotM Raid Still have insane amounts of fun running Strikes/Nightfall with my friends who have stayed with the game. Will patrol on the weekends while listening to Podcasts to level gear, or level up for faction rewards for better rolls of armor and weapons. Super excited for Destiny 2.
