As the title suggests the khvostov is stuck in a weird spot for example at its "450" rpm mode. I ask that Bungie change this to 550 rpm (roughly) to reach the 77/28 values. The Suros Regime archetype. Then change the 900 rpm mode to 1000 rpm (roughly) to reach the 100/2 value. The Doctrine archetype.
It should also receive a noticeable stability and range buff, since currently they are both too low. Changing RPM's would affect the range/stability stat. High RPM would grant increased stability to a manageable level while low RPM would grant a sizable boost to range. This would allow it to be competitive at either RPM.
The sights should be converged into its original sight but with the glass fixed and then just add muzzle options like pretty much every other exotic in the game.
Currently its fires slower than the highest impact archetype while doing less damage... odd i know. As it stands, it cannot compete on any level whatsoever. The only mode that is remotely usable is its high RoF mode which even then has a slower RoF with same damage. cycling between fire modes doesn't compensate damage values for the particular weapon class/archetype. Meaning that no matter what it cannot achieve a killing time on par with even the most basic legendary weapon or even a blue for that matter based on this... problem.
This weapon has always had a special place or should have had a special place in everyone's arsenal. However as it stands it is barely usable in even the most basic of gamemodes. This weapon doesn't have any real gimmicks or something to make it stand above in terms of something unique for a exotic. Well changing firing modes and its RPM's is certainly unique deserving of exotic status, but this seems to do all but help it. It seems to actually hurt it, instead of help.
Sure lets say that it's supposed to be a jack of all trades kinda weapon. That idea would work except we have archetypes that do what they are supposed to and have a RoF to match its damage. The khvostov does not. It either has too low of damage or too low of a RoF... or both.
I believe fixing its damage value to match its RoF would solve its problems. But first the RPM modes need changed to match the extremes of each firing mode. High impact and low impact. Then simply match it's damage value to that specific RPM mode.
Otherwise this exotic will not ever see any use. It needs a niche, being an oddball that doesn't excel in any way doesn't do that.

Edited by A Lonely Grunt: 2/21/2017 5:45:33 PMNot to be a jackass but putting the word official does not make it an official petition to change something. An official petition would be on an actual piece of paper with real signatures but even then bungie won't listen I do like your idea though but maybe if the exotic perk was the life exotic then maybe more people would use it
For those of you that don't know the life exotic perk lets you have 2 exotics at the same time (example: the exotic class items)
Are you a Bungie employee? A representative on their behalf in writing? No? It's not an "Official" post then.
-
All different fire modes need to be buffed as well top compete with the scouts and pulse rifles they're supposed to be imitating
-
I agree it needs to be buffed. I pulled it out of my vault earlier today just for some nostalgia and decided to use it in Trials with my friend. If you set it to maximum impact, and smash the shoot button as rapidly as possible you have about a 30-40% chance to get a kill in a one on one encounter. If they are caught unaware or on a flank, you can tear through them, but it doesn't have enough (accurate) range to be an acceptable flanking gun.

I think they should do one of two things. One, like you suggested but different, tune the dmg to the correct archetype but keep the RPMs. Or add an extra tree. This tree has 3 options: 1. Life of an exotic. Everything stays the same (w/ correct dmg values) but you can equip another exotic weapon as it has no exotic perks (fate of all fools, Wolf pack rounds, etc) 2. Exotic perk 'Team Player'- Removes firing mode options, dmg against non-guardian targets heals allies and killing majors gives super energy. 3. Another exotic perk 'Super Punch'-Killing guards increases melee dmg by 1%, stacks x10. Just a thought as I find that this would be a more versatile weapon with pve and pvp perks and the ability to have two exotic weapons.

This is what I think Khovostov should be like. Two fire modes, semi auto and auto. The semi auto mode should be the same archetype as Mida. The auto mode should be the same archetype as Answering cord with the options of more range or more stability. Give it high aim assist to make it worthy of being exotic..That is all.
-
They need to fix the RPM and Firing Mode perks. Fix the impact, rate of fire, and precision multiplier to correspond with the firing mode. If you choose the Burst Fire and Semi-auto options, the impact, rate of fire, and precision multiplier, should all change to that of a pulse rifle or scout rifle. Add a third (and possibly 4th) RPM perk (with correct impact and rate of fire values) for the corresponding archetypes in those weapon types. To create such a disappointing, and poorly coded, Exotic is unacceptable. It is extremely lazy. Almost as lazy as (or possibly even more lazy than) the last-minute change to the Astrocyte Verse before it was released.

I don't see the problem with it. I bring it out sometimes when I don't need the exotic slot for something else. Only thing that would be sweet is to add a solar or void burn to it. maybe a perk to choose between them. We have an arc burn primary...why not? Then we would at least have a good option for nightfall and heroic modifiers.
-
Yep I would have to agree super buff it. But I want it to be so dam op that no one can stand it
-
My friend swears it is broken and way op. Always telling me I should use it. I laugh and say "that's why you have that assembly 2 equipped right? Because you want to be fair? Lmfao it shuts him up every time.
-
What makes this official? It can only be official if it has a stamp of taco certification, which there is a clear lack of.
-
I heard it's good, I'm gonna try it out right now.
-
Yet another exotic promoted by bungie that when obtained is a real disappointment. Good at a few things but great at none. Have a nice day buddy.
-
Exotic trash to make you chase time Was never designed to be good
-
Some guy I recently saw went Flawless with it this week, sure this is one instance, but there has to be a secret to it somewhere lol
-
Problem is that there's a frame speed issue. 450 rpm = 1 shot every 4 frames. 600 rpm = 1 shot every 3 frames. 900 rpm = 1 shot every 2 frames. 1000 rpm... 1 shot every 1.778 frames, but how do you divide it? If you want to buff it in FA mode, you'd need to tweak the damage level.
-
Buff it
-
Remove Exotic from it. It's not even worth using.
-
the gun exists for nostalgia OK! , there's already a shit ton of autos in the game who cares about khvostov
-
Think we need to have a poll to poll people about how many stupid polls there are in here.
-
I would also like for it to have the life exotic perk so that i can actually use it
-
It should just do the damage of the archetypes it can become.
-
Sooooo . . . what makes this an "Official" poll?
-
I love mine, before used Mida and love it too, is working perfect at pvp, if they buffed they will end nerfing it back, is just perfect now, i think add 3rd eye and omg
-
Add third "medium" rof option, and either the life exotic or perk swap, the ability to swap the intrinsic perk & any of the stat mods(say 1 Legendary Mark, 1000 glimmer, & 1 weapon part) for any perk from any legendary rare or uncommon letting you customize the perks on the fly for pvp/pve.
-
I already think i do pretty good with it. No god; but it's one of my favorite guns to use.
