Trials can be for everyone back in year 1 when everybody played it was alot easier for casual players to get to the lighthouse bc there was more of a player base to match up against but now looking at the numbers trials player base is diminishing each week in fact last week was the lowest it's ever been breaking the record from...the week before soo now it's filled with all sweats/streamers. Bungie needs to 1 make trials worth playing for EVERYONE. And 2 needs to figure out a way to stop the streamers and sweats from ruining it for everyone. I'm not saying make it super easy to get to the lighthouse I get it u have to really earn it what I'm saying is I shouldn't get knocked out by some person with a 2500 elo that's been flawless 15x that day every card.

  • Totally agree. Not even six months ago getting to 5 or 7 wins on a card was likely. Now it is very unlikely. I check the Elo of players and my average opponents are rising as my score falls because the player base is shrinking for trials. Now its tough to even get a fireteam together because in general it is so unbalanced and it doesn't even seem like good practice when most matches are against 2600 Elo players. Honestly, I watched some twitch streamers this weekend and even they were hard pressed to get flawless. I actually saw a high level streamer get matched against another high level streamer and they both commented on how hard last weekend was. Trials is still an amazing format for competition however it seems like it is becoming less likely that anyone attempting to learn anything from playing it will have that chance.

  • The problem is that trials is a contradiction in itself. Its trying to be a game mode for the 1% and the 99% at the same time. The end reward is based not directly on skill, but on how many wins you get. Adding ranked matchmaking eliminates the skill requirement for the lighthouse, because as long as you can beat people around your skill level you can get there. It won't matter how good you are overall. The way trials is now, however, only gives the very top players a reason to play. Imo, the only way to fix trials is to completely restructure the rewards system. Give it ranked tiers with increasing rewards. That way there's a reason to improve your skill, but there's also a built in way to get better, in playing people of your skill as you rank up.

The [i]only [/i]ones against something like this is the top players, cause they don't want to play people on their own level.

  • I like this idea gets rid of both the main issues. Let's be honest trials is only done for ego the rewards aren't anything special minus maybe the ornaments but they are cosmetic they can keep em for the top tier players that's fine or they can do something special for the top tier players ie a special shader or emblem for their egos
