You saw the armor penalty as well. I like to run max armor so I can tank SC as well as outlast 1v1 battles instead of trading.

Same here. High armor builds are my favorite for Striker and Voidwalker. Very disappointed that my favorite build got nerfed. I think my max armor build was less annoying than Juggernaut or Shoulder Charge, so why nerf high armor, too?

I don't know, maybe they were anticipating a high armor striker titan meta and wanted to kill it before it started.
