Tracking on fusions gets me all the time. The most frustrating thing about fusions is the kill potential up close with no consequence. Even trip mines can kill the user and they can't even stick anymore. If they'd make the self-damage from being caught in your own fusion explosion = lethal damage, that'd be a decent compromise. Magnetic can just copy that.
